Did you know that grey eyes is one of the rarest eye colors in the world? The color is similar to blue eyes, having a low amount of pigmentation (melanin) that results in a grey appearance. Because of the rarity, grey eyes look very stunning, mysterious and are an immediate eye-catcher. This unique eyecolor is captured by the Desio Two Shades of Grey Color Contact Lenses, a collection consisting of a Lighter and Darker version. I’m going to to tell you more about these lenses and show you how they look on me in today’s post.
The Desio Two Shades of Grey Color Contact Lenses come in a cardboard box. The Lighter version has a silver shade box with dark metallic silver detail, while the Darker version has the exact opposite, very cute detail! The name and the power of the lens is displayed on the top of the box.
The box contains two lenses, which are sealed individually inside a solution, an instruction manual and a color guide. The lens holder wasn’t inside the box itself but I think you do receive one when you order a pair. I like that the lenses are sealed individually, since a lot of people use for an eyelook on Instagram, which only needs one lens. This can also give you the option to use different lens colors on each eye like blue or green which is in official terms called “Heterochromia”.
The Desio Two Shades of Grey Color Contact Lenses have a long expiration date. The one that I own have an expiration date in about 3 years after receiving them. According to the brand, you can use them for up to three months after opening. If only used on a few occasions during this time, the lenses may last longer but is still recommended that they are disposed of after the three month period to avoid the risk of infections.
The Desio Two Shades of Grey Color Contact Lenses are available in Plano (plain, no power) like I have, but they’re also available for Myopia (nearsightedness) from -0.50 to -6.00 in 0.25 steps, -6.00 to -13.00 in 0.50 steps and Hyperopia (farsightedness) from +0.50 to +6.00 in 0.25 steps. There is a possibility that the lenses increase in price, which is dependent on the power. The lenses are also available for Astigmatism.
The Desio Two Shades of Grey Color Contact Lenses are soft lenses made by cast molding. The material that the lenses are created from is Polymacon, a hydrophilic polymer. This is a plastic material that attracts water. The diameter of the lens is 14,50 mm with a base curve of 8,70 mm. The Desio Two Shades of Grey Color Contact Lenses have a natural blending effect, having a gradient from the iris to pupil. So when your pupils are small, you can see your natural eye color but it blends well due to the gradient.
To show you as a reference, I have very warm and deep brown eyes myself. Brown eyes are the most common eye color in the entire world. Keep in mind that the natural eye color can have an impact on the results.
Desio Two Shades of Grey Color Contact Lenses in Lighter
The description according the brand of the Desio Two Shades of Grey Color Contact Lenses in Lighter is as follows:
“The morning mist envelops the horizon with its translucence. Your eyes peer through the mist to find the sensation of light. Light Grey, conceals your desire, masking a nuance that will only be revealed to those who are willing to receive it.”
The Desio Two Shades of Grey Color Contact Lenses in Lighter is not as light as I thought it would be, but probably looks darker due to my natural dark eye color. I own other grey color lenses from Desio in Rebel Grey (review here) and that set looks quite unnatural. The Lighter shade however, looks very natural on me! I really love how this color looks on me.
Desio Two Shades of Grey Color Contact Lenses in Darker
The description according the brand of the Desio Two Shades of Grey Color Contact Lenses in Darker is as follows:
“A smokey and steamy glance, with its ashes concealing the fire that is ready to light up and engulf lips seeking the warm pleasure and taste of the forbidden”.
The Desio Two Shades of Grey Color Contact Lenses in Darker looks slightly darker in comparison to the other shade, but not that much. I’m also absolutely in love with this shade. I think I even like it slightly better than the lighter version because the natural blending effect is a tiny bit better with my natural eye color with this shade
I think that both of the Desio Two Shades of Grey Color Contact Lenses are stunning. As you can see in the comparison, there’s only a slight difference in shade on my eyes and I think they’re both really beautiful. It really makes a statement without looking unnatural. I think these lenses can definitely help create an impact with your Holiday makeup look. It just gives something extra and I’m definitely going to wear one of these during Christmas and/or New Years Eve.
Like any other contact lens that I’ve ever worn, these do not feel very comfortable for me. I’m not a frequent contact lens wearer but I do get used to it the more I used the lenses. I think how the lenses feel are really personal. If you are a regular contacts wearer, you probably won’t have any trouble with them.
The Desio Two Shades of Grey Color Contact Lenses are available for €42.00 Euro (price for Plano lenses) at Desiolens.com. Shipping is free internationally and since these are shipped from Italy, there are no extra customs fees when shipped to The Netherlands. There are discount codes given out frequently, so I would suggest to keep an eye out on their Instagram page or subscribe to their newsletter.
If you’re interested in purchasing these lenses without any experience with using contacts, I would suggest to read this manual very carefully if you really want to take good care of your lenses and how to apply them correctly.
