Yaaaaay it’s Christmas, I want to wish you all a Merry Christmas with lots of love, presents and happiness! I have an unboxing of the Fortune Cookie Soap Box Winter 2015 for you today. Fortune Cookie Soap is a store based in the US which sells hand-made bath & products. You can kind of compare their products to Lush. The scents of their products are very unique and always amazing. Fortune Cookie Soap also has a seasonal subscription box with a featured theme. Examples of previous Soap Box themes include A Nightmare Before Christmas, Alice in Wonderland and Peter Pan. The theme of the Winter Soap Box 2015 is inspired by the movie Elf and is named “Welcome, Santa!”.
The Fortune Cookie Soap Box itself has a new look! This is how you get the box through the mail, so you can immediately recognize it when you receive it. The box also contains a card with information of all the products. I’m personally not so familiar with the theme Elf, since I haven’t watched the movie (I’m not so fond of Will Ferrell). I do like Christmas movies, but I’m more into movies like Home Alone and Jingle all the Way.
There’s a total of eight products in the Fortune Cookie Soap Box Winter 2015. Two full-sized products, seven are miniature-sized products.
Buddy – Fortune Cookie Soap
Buddy– Fortune Cookie Soap is like the name says, a soap shaped like a fortune cookie and the company’s staple product. I really love the Fortune Cookie Soaps! I collect them, using these as decoration in a bowl with other Fortune Cookie Soaps. You can also use them as just a soap for washing your hands or for showering. You can also use these soaps as lovely gift with a personal message inside.
The scent of Buddy is described as “With notes of holiday fruits, candy, crushed vanilla, and a hint of mint, this scent will have you feeling just as happy as everyone’s favorite elf.” I can’t really smell something distinctively. The scent reminds me of candy with a fruit punch flavor. The Fortune Cookie Soap has a green shade and and a fluffy red ball on top, which is inspired by the outfit of Will Ferrell’s character Buddy. Inside the soap is a small fortune, which is usually a quote of related to the box’s theme, mine says “Does somebody need a hug?” . This is a full-sized product.
Swirly Twirly Gum Drops – OCD Hand Sanitizer
Swirly Twirly Gum Drops – OCD Hand Sanitizer is also a popular product of Fortune Cookie Soap. The OCD Hand Sanitizer is an anti-bacterial type of hand sanitizer, you don’t need any water to use this.
The scent of Swirly Twirly Gum Drops is described as “A sweet and whimsical blend of cotton candy, lemon drops, and a fresh pear nectar, dancing with tart cranberries and black currants”. I also can’t really tell anything distinctively about this scent, it smells like concentrated lemonade to me. The consistensy is gel-like, transparent and bright pink, the color doesn’t transfer when you apply the sanitizer. This is also a full-sized product and very nice to travel with. I really love the OCD Hand Sanitizers, they feel very cleansing without feeling like it’s drying out my skin.
World’s Best Cup of Coffee – Whipped Cream
World’s Best Cup of Coffee – Whipped Cream is a whipped bodycream. The consistency of the Whipped Cream is my favorite type of all the bodylotion-y type of products ever created. My skin always feels hydrated and soft after using this.
The scent is described as “Vermont maple syrup, with just the right amount of fresh brewed coffee”. This scent is so beautiful and warm, it smells just like Mocha! It also has the same color as Mocha, it’s so lovely and creamy. This is a miniature sized product.
Shower Duet – Shave Oil
Shower Duet – Shave Oil is a new product in the Fortune Cookie Soap Product range. You can use the oil before shaving by applying a few drops and massaging the oil into your skin. It softens the hairs and skin to make it easier to shave. I haven’t tried it for shaving yet but I have used a few drops on my skin, it really makes my skin very soft and supple.
The scent is described as “Spruce and vanilla, fir and fruits, hyacinth and mint”. The spruce and mint are definitely most present in this scent. I really think this is a lovely scent, it’s like walking through a spruce forest during wintertime. This is a miniature sized product.
FCS Cheer – Perfume Oil
FCS Cheer – Perfume Oil is a miniature-sized product that you can apply on your skin like a normal perfume. The only difference is that you need to rub it in a bit. The Fortune Cookie Soap Perfume Oils scent are always very concentrated and last all day long on my skin. I even got in a fight with a co-worker who thought the scent was too strong, so be aware of that when you want to use these!
The scent of FCS Cheer is described as “Rich, buttery vanilla pound cake, over dark frankincense, patchouli and cedar”. I have no idea what frankincense is lol. The vanilla definitely jumps out to me which I love, it is a very warm, sweet and buttery scent. It’s a scent that I really love to wear.
Yellow Snow – Bath Bomb
Yellow Snow – Bath Bomb is a fizzy bath product that you can chunk in your bath tub. It looks like a scoop of vanilla ice cream! Since I don’t have a bath tub, I love to use these type of product in a foot bath instead. This doesn’t make bubbles or change the color of the water, it just fizzes.
The scent of Yellow Snow is described as “A juicy blend of ripe plums, whipped caramel, vanilla jasmine and exotic woods, with just a squeeze of mandarin oranges”. It smells very citrus-y without being too overwhelming. This is a miniature-sized product.
Christmas Gram – Face Plant
Christmas Gram – Face Plant is another new product in the Fortune Cookie Soap Product range. You can use these tabs to open up your pores and refresh your face (and clear stuffy noses!) by putting a tab in a bowl steaming hot water and by hanging your head above the bowl. I think it’s a great idea for a product to use during the cold winter weather.
The scent is described as “Warm steamy air, fresh lavender and sea salt spray, mingle with the woody earthiness of sage and dark vanilla”. I really don’t like the smell of Lavender, so this might not be a scent for me, it is definitely the most present smell but it isn’t as pungent. I haven’t tried it out to steam yet so the scent might change during use. This is a miniature-sized product.
Cotton Headed Ninny Muggins – Dry Shampoo
Cotton Headed Ninny Muggins – Dry Shampoo is a product that you can use to freshen up your hair. This is a white powder and contains a bit of fine glitter. I really, really love dry shampoos. I normally use spray dry shampoo’s but this is also very easy to use. Sprinkle a bit of this stuff on your scalp and rub it in. I usually have to do that with spray dry shampoo anyways, since it does give me a white cast on my dark hair.
The scent of Cotton Headed Ninny Muggins is described as “a refreshi-floral blend, that bursts with lillies, freesia, jasmine and bayberry, muddled with blackberries and plums, garnished with a sprig of peppermint”. To me it smells like a fresh flower bouquet, which is very subtle and hardly noticeable when it’s applied.
I love the products themselves in Fortune Cookie Soap Box Winter 2015. I’m not so fond of all the scents though, I’m more of a sweet cookies scents type of person. World’s Best Cup of Coffee is therefore my favorite scent in this box. According to the website, there are still some boxes left, so you have to get it ASAP if you’re interested! Usually, Fortune Cookie Soap Boxes are sold out as soon as they launch, since they only make a limited amount of boxes for their subscribers. You can subscribe for the Spring Fortune Cookie Soap Box at the Fortune Cookie Soap Website.
Since shipping to the Netherlands is quite expensive, the subscription costs $34 USD per box (check xe.com for the current price in Euro). You also have to pay by credit card. I really don’t mind paying that price though, because I mostly use all of the products in the boxes and all the products are like Lush, unique and hand-made with lots of love. With other beauty related (monthly) subscription boxes, I usually did not use the products and to give them away trade them for other products, which is more of a waste of money.
Again, I want to wish all my readers a very Merry Christmas, I hope that you all will have lovely days full of joy, food, laughter, presents and most important, happiness. ♥
What are you planning for Christmas?
