Vans x Nintendo Collaboration

I’m by no means a fashion blogger but I had to show you this awesome collaboration of Vans x Nintendo. I’ve been a huge fan of Nintendo ever since I can remember and this collab is just a dream come true! There is plenty of swag to choose from like shoes, shirts, hats among other things in many different patterns. I have picked up two items from the collection, which I will be showing you today.

I can’t stress this enough and have said this many times, I’m a huge sucker for details. I don’t own anything from Vans before this collab but has really nailed it with the details. One of the items that I’ve purchased is the the Nintendo Controller Sk8-Hi Reissue Shoes. The shoe box looks like an Nintendo Entertainment System Console. This was actually the first console I’ve ever owned and have very fond memories playing Super Mario Bros. and Duck Hunt. We didn’t own any other games but we rented different ones at a rental store. I really live for details like this which makes me appreciate the Vans x Nintendo Collaboration even more.

The Nintendo Controller Sk8-Hi Reissue Shoes are black with white soles and have an NES Controller pattern on the sides of the shoes. The shoes are made from canvas and suede uppers and padded collars. This pattern is really a dream come true. I walked around with NES Controller Belt Buckle for some time so this is a perfect addition to my geeky gaming accessories. There’s another style called “Mario Luigi” which is available in Kids/Toddler size in the Netherlands but not for adult sizes. The US website does have that style in adult sizes, which I have purchased and is on it’s way as we speak.

Again, the details of the products are insanely good. The flap (don’t know if this is the official term) has an embroided NES Controller and the Vans/Nintendo  logo’s. I actually squealed when I saw that the ends of the shoe laces were also tiny NES Controllers. Finally, GAME OVER! is stamped on the rubber waffle outsoles which actually has the same font as in the game.

The other thing I’ve purchased is the Nintendo Mario Warp T-Shirt. The shirt is black and made of a 100% cotton. I purchased mine in the size L, because for some reason, I always have to purchase shirts in a bigger size. I usually purchase my tops in size M so I would suggest to get a bigger size compared what you would usually wear.

I’m personally not a T-shirt type of person, usually wearing peplums or wearing loose oversized tops, but I had to have this T-shirt because it is so cute! The T-shirt has an 8-bit Mario sticking out of a green pipe, which is also the chest pocket. So simple and awesome at the same time.

Lastly, I wanted to show you how the products wear. Both Shoes and T-shirt fit perfectly so I would definitely suggest to get your regular shoe size and one T-shirt size bigger.

The shoes are very comfortable to wear. I do have to get used to the high style, because I never owned sneakers that are higher than my ankle. I also think that skinny jeans, panties or leggings would fit best with this style of shoes, anything that’s tight but again, I’m not a stylist or a fashion blogger so don’t take advice from me too seriously.

The Vans x Nintendo collaboration is definitely one of my favorite collabs of all time. I think the classic style of Nintendo combined with the skater style of Vans make a perfect combination. I really wish I had more money to spend because there are so many more things I would love to purchase from this collection.  A few sizes from some of the products are already sold out, but you can also check out other webstores like Large.nl to see if they have anything in stock.
