Clinique has introduced a new member in the Chubby family, which is the new Clinique Chubby Plump & Shine Liquid Lip Plumping Gloss and comes in eight shades in total. This is a liquid gloss which according to the brand, is supposed to give you fuller, smoother and fresh looking lips. The gloss is also easy to apply, so no mirror is required for application. I’m going to tell you all the details about this product, which I have in the shade Va Va Va Violet.
The Clinique Chubby Plump & Shine Liquid Lip Plumping Gloss looks like all the other Clinique Chubby Sticks, the tube having a similar shade as the actual product and having silver colored details of the lettering and the ends of the product. Instead of revealing a stick product, it has a hole where the product comes out of.
Twisting the silver colored end of the Clinique Chubby Plump & Shine Liquid Lip Plumping Gloss makes the product come out. You get 3.9 grams of product in total. As you can see, the shade looks exactly as how the tube is colored, including the shimmer.
The Clinique Chubby Plump & Shine Liquid Lip Plumping Gloss in Va Va Va Voilet is a berry shade with a blue shimmer reflects gloss with a sheer finish. The blue shimmer makes it look more special than a regular gloss.
When applied to my lips, the shade is less noticeable, since it’s sheer and also looks very similar to my own lip color. Of course the thicker you apply the gloss, the better the shade and shimmer show up. The formula of the Clinique Chubby Plump & Shine Liquid Lip Plumping Gloss in Va Va Va Voilet is very thick and creamy, which makes it moisturizing. It also has an extremely subtle minty feeling, making it feel refreshing. I’m a bit in between if I find this gloss comfortable, because the formula is a bit sticky and so thick, I can constantly feel the presence of the gloss, which I personally don’t like.
The thickness of the gloss also makes my lips look smoother. It’s difficult for me to judge of it makes my lips look bigger, since I already have full lips of my own. I do think it makes my lips look very juicy and plump so I guess that can be considered as looking bigger.
I also tried to apply the Clinique Chubby Plump & Shine Liquid Lip Plumping Gloss without using a mirror, which works perfectly fine since the formula is sheer. I don’t really know why Clinique is promoting this though, because isn’t any sheer gloss (and sheer Chubby Stick) easy to apply without a mirror?
Anyways, I think think the shade looks beautiful and definitely feels very nourishing and fresh. One thing that I don’t like is that you can’t see how much product is left, since the tube isn’t transparant. Normally with a Clinique Chubby Stick, you can twist the product way up to see how much there’s left, which is of course not possible with a liquid product. Also I don’t like a very thick and sticky gloss, since I can constantly feel it’s there but if you’re someone who loves a thick, glossy and juicy layer, this is definitely something for you to try out.
What kind of gloss do you like to wear?
