Clinique Pop Lip Shadow Cushion Matte Lip Powder in Crimson Pop

Clinique Pop Lip Shadow Cushion Matte Lip Powder

A powder formula lipstick!? Clinique introduces the Pop Lip Shadow Cushion Matte Lip Powder, a unique texture changing lip product that gives an explosion of color with a soft matte finish. The super intense, creamy and pigmented formula is supposed to glide effortlessly on the lips, changing into a weightless powdery finish. There are eight shades available in total. I’m going to try out the Clinique Pop Lip Shadow Cushion Matte Lip Powder in the shade Crimson Pop.

I’ve received the Clinique Pop Lip Shadow Cushion Matte Lip Powder without a box with the applicator and product separated, so I’m not sure if it comes like this in the store. I think it will probably be available with an outer cardboard box like most of the Clinique products do. The product comes in a non-transparent tube that has a similar shade as the lipstick. It has silver details and an elongated top. It reminds me more of a liquid eyeliner than a lipstick so it’s looking quite unique.

Here’s the inside of the tube. I already dipped the applicator in the product once in this picture. It seems like it’s more of a creamy formula than an actual powder like you see with a Korean Beauty powder lipsticks, which I never tried by the way so I can’t compare them. The tube contains 1,2 grams of product in total.

The anti-bacterial sponge applicator has a soft but sturdy texture, which supposed to make it easy to build up the color. You can apply the product by screwing the applicator on the tube and shake. Looking at the tube again, I can see a powdery texture on the bottom but on the applicator itself, it already has changed into a creamy type of consistency.

Here’s a swatch of the Clinique Pop Lip Shadow Cushion Matte Lip Powder in Crimson Pop. The formula almost reminds me of a lip pencil. It’s applies evenly and is extremely thin. As you can see, it doesn’t change the texture of my skin so it almost has an invisible application in regards to that, only giving off an intense and even applied shade.

The Clinique Pop Lip Shadow Cushion Matte Lip Powder in Crimson Pop is an intense Crimson Red shade with a matte finish. I was afraid that the product would feel extremely drying since it was originally a powder texture and is matte like a lip pencil/liquid lipstick, but as I was wearing the product for a few minutes, I could feel it become a bit more creamy and it actually felt comfortable. It’s less drying and matte than most of the liquid lipsticks but not as creamy as most matte lipsticks in a bullet. It’s really somewhere in between. Also, it’s not smudge and transfer proof but it does stay in place very well like a lip pencil so it stays on for hours but does need some retouching after eating. Your lips should be in a decent condition using this product because as the swatch on my skin, the lipstick will not change the texture so dry lips will still look very dry. However, this shade still applies evenly, even on dry patches on the lips so you can put a lipbalm over the product if needed.

I really like the product! I thought it was another gimmick-y thing but it actually really surprised me in a positive way. The shade is beautiful and I find the formula very interesting. I really love that it applies so intense, perfectly even and that it feels so lightweight. It was easy to apply and I only needed one “dip” to cover my whole lip area (which is quite much) so I think this product will last you a long time.
