Colourpop finally offers international shipping, which means that I can review their products for you! The US based brand Colourpop is very popular due to their affordable, good quality products. These products are available in a huge variety of shades and finishes. I’m going to start my first Colourpop review with one of my favorite products, which is the Ultra Satin Lip. The shade which I’m going to review is the color Dopey.
The Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip in Dopey comes in a white box that shows the Colourpop logo and Ultra Satin Lip in sparkly silver lettering. The sides of the box are yellow and displays the shade of the product, so there is no indication on the outside of the palette what the shade looks like.
The tube of the Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip in Dopey is very simple, which you would expect for something in the drugstore price range. The tube of the is made of clear plastic with silver (holographic) details. I would suggest to keep the lipstick inside the box during traveling because imprints like this one tend to scratch off very quickly. The tube contains 3.25 mL of product and has a regular doe foot applicator.
Here’s a swatch of the Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip in Dopey. The shade is fully opaque and dries down to a satin finish. This formula is not made to be completely matte, Colourpop has a different product for that. Therefore, the Ultra Satin Lip does transfer and is not smudge proof. I normally prefer a transfer-proof matte formula, but I will explain why I really like this particular formula down below. There is no added scent but I do smell the ingredients themselves, which smells a bit chemical but it isn’t too strong and quickly disappears after application.
Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip in Dopey is a dusty mauve lipstick with a satin finish. I always gravitate to shades like this one. It is fully opaque on my lips without any patchiness. The lipstick feels super comfortable and not drying at all. The lipstick becomes more matte over time but stays comfortable. The lipstick does smudge so you have to be careful during eating and/or drinking, but what I love about this formula is that it it stays beautiful over time. Even though it looks like I’m losing tons of lipsticks when I’m touching something with my lips, it still looks the same, only a bit more matte. I’ve been to a barbecue when wearing this lipstick and it still looked great afterwards. I didn’t need any touch-ups, which I usually need with a lipstick that has a matte finish, but not with this one! I don’t know if this is also the case of other shades but I have ordered a few other ones, which I will definitely review once they arrive.
I really love the long lasting, comfortable formula of the Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip in Dopey. It’s like a hybrid between a regular lipstick and a matte liquid lipstick. Definitely try this formula if you find matte liquid lipsticks too drying. I can’t wait to try out more shades!
The Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip in Dopey is available for $6.00 USD (check Xe.com for the current price in Euro) at Colourpop.com. I was so happy to see that Colourpop offers international shipping however, shipping to the Netherlands is extremely expensive! For one Ultra Satin Lip, you pay $15.00 USD shipping. For 3 or more Ultra Satin Lips (I’ve tried to put 15 in my cart), you pay $25.00 USD shipping and possibly extra customs fees. It is probably cheaper to use Shipito to send the packages to the country. Check out my full explanation on how to use Shipito here.
