Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Foundation on Dry Skin Type

Fenty Beauty Pro Filt'r Foundation on Dry Skin

Fenty Beauty is a new make-up brand created by the famous singer Rihanna. The beauty community has been praising this brand for having 40 different foundation shades called Pro Filt’r Foundation for the lightest to darkest skintones and everything in the middle. The foundation is supposed to have soft matte finish, which makes it more suitable for normal to oily skin types. However, I was still curious to see how the foundation would perform on my dry skin type, so I purchased the Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Foundation in the shade 240. I’m going to let you know what I think of this foundation in this post.

The Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Foundation comes in a heavy glass bottle with a frosted finish and white details. It feels quite heavy, which I love because it makes it feel more luxurious. The bottle contains 32 mL product in total, which is 2 mL (6,7%) more than an average foundation. Fun fact: Did you know that Fenty is actually Rihanna‘s last name?

Opening the top reveals a pump, which is my favorite way type of application. I like that it already contains a pump instead of having to buy it seperately like you have to do with some other brands (looking at you MAC Cosmetics).

On the first picture is one pump of the Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Foundation. The foundation is extremely thin and runny and as you can see, the shade 240 (described as for medium skin with very warm undertones) is waaaaaaaaay too light for my skin tone at the moment. The undertone seems yellow enough. I thought that I was already going for a darker shade, because I just got home from vacation and thought that I would buy a lighter shade like 180 (described as for light skin with warm undertones) if I would like it and mix them together. But I think this might be my “normal” shade. The second picture is the foundation spread out.

Here is the foundation spread out and dried with an extra layer in the middle to show you the finish. It has a very matte finish and dries very quickly since it is so thin. You have to apply this foundation quickly by either doing sections or apply it quickly on each area and blend the product in with a Beauty Blender, which I did for applying this on my face.

Since I have a dry skin type, I always prep my skin with a moisturizer and a hydrating primer. This is what I always do so this is what I also did before applying the Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Foundation in 240. The first picture is my bare skin with moisturizer. The second picture is one layer of foundation applied with a Beauty Blender. I needed two pumps to cover my entire face. I would say this is a medium coverage. The redness on my face is completely gone and it makes an overall even base with a soft matte finish. you still can see my dark circles and some acne scars but can be easily covered by applying a bit more of the foundation in those areas or use concealer.

Here is the finished result using the rest of  my make-up. I didn’t have any troubles with applying my other make-up, I did skip powder since the foundation dries up to a matte finish and also feels dry unlike some other foundations who still feel tacky after application. I did use powder to set my concealer.

I am completely obsessed by the finish. The foundation leaves such a thin and natural looking layer. It just looks like skin, which is mindblowing or a foundation with a matte finish. I also saw one of my friends wearing the foundation and with her, it was the same and she has an oily skin type.

Here is my make-up after about eight hours of wear. I a bit of shine on my T-zone and some cracks around my nose and on the corners of my mouth. I also have a bit less coverage on my chin since I tend to touch that part a lot throughout the day. The things that I mention happens normally so overall, the foundation looks really good! I didn’t get the feeling that my skin felt dry after using this foundation at all so a good base really helps.

Also, I’ve heard from different sources that the foundation oxidizes, which means that it gets darker over time. I didn’t experience that with this shade myself. It might be shade depended since they use different pigments for the different shades.

I’m completely in love with the Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Foundation, even though I have dry skin and normally prefer a dewy finish! The finish looks absolutely beautiful, skin-like and is long lasting. I do think for a dry skin type, a good hydrating base is a must when using this foundation. Also, I didn’t have dry patches on my skin but I do think this will cling on those area’s, so definitely focus on those if you have them. This sounds so strange because I love to tan during my vacations, but I can’t wait until it wears off so that I can wear this foundation more often!

The Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Foundation is available at Sephora.com for $34.00 USD (excluding shipping to The Netherlands and customs tax, check xe.com for the current price in Euro) and at Sephora.fr for €33.00 EUR (excluding shipping to The Netherlands).

Ok, nu ben ik ook benieuwd geworden! Was al benieuwd vanwege de vele kleuren en mijn sneeuwwitje huid maar omdat hij ook zo goed bevalt op een droge huid zet ik hem bij deze op mijn wishlist 😉
