Ipsy Glam Bag August 2016

Hey everyone! It’s time for another Ipsy Glam Bag “unboxing”.  This is my third bag and I’m still in shock with all the great products and value that you get with this beauty subscription service. The Ipsy Glam Bag is only available in the U.S. but thanks to Shipito, it is possible to subscribe and send the bag to the Netherlands. The Ipsy Glam Bag August 2016 is themed “Sugar Highness”. You can check out my previous Ipsy Bags here.

The Ipsy Glam Bag August 2016 was designed by the co-founder of Ipsy, the beautiful Michelle Phan herself. She created this beautiful artwork of a Dreamy Queen of Make-up, wearing a make-up product crown and getting all dolled up. to capture the low-key, laid-back vibes of Summer. The theme “Sugar Highness” is about splurging, pampering and indulging yourself.

The contents of the Ipsy Glam Bag is different for everyone. You have to fill in your preferences and style during subscription so that you get your own bag filled with your personal preferences. Ipsy Stylists like Chrisspy, Desi Perkins, Lustrelux and Promise Phan pick out products to feature in the bags each month. The Ipsy Stylist on this months info card is the gorgeous Christen Dominique.

The Ipsy Glam Bag always consists of five different products. I believe that there are two fullsized and three deluxe miniature sized products in my August bag. I will leave the description of the products according to Ipsy and give you my opinion afterwards.

Pacifica SUNDREAMS LOTUS INFUSED BRONZER in Sunkissed

Pacifica Sundreams Lotus Infused Bronzer in Sunkissed– is a bronzer with a universal shade that works perfectly for most skin tones. The intensity can be build up for a stronger glow and has a natural color, so you can avoid the fake look.

NYX BORN TO GLOW LIQUID ILLUMINATOR in Gleam

NYX Born to Glow Liquid Illuminator in Gleam – a highlighter with a golden peachy pearl shade that leaves you looking lit from within. The liquid highlighter easily blends into skin for a natural look and can be worn alone for a radiant look with minimal coverage.

Nomad Cosmetics Intense Eyeshadow in Spice Market

Nomad Cosmetics Intense Eyeshadow in Spice Market – A baked eyeshadow in a rich copper shade that is blendable and buildable. It has an intense color payoff, which means a little goes a long way with a super smooth application that lasts.

Lord & Berry 20100 maximatte crayon lipstick in Intimacy

Lord & Berry 20100 Maximatte Crayon Lipstick in Intimacy – A subtle pink lip crayon with a matte finish won’t dry out lips, incredibly moisturizing and softening and long-lasting.

Ipsy Glam Bag - August 2016 Sugar Highness Swatches

Here are swatches of the products from left to right: Pacifica Bronzer in Sunkissed, NYX  Liquid Illuminator in Gleam, Nomad Cosmetics Eyeshadow in Spice MarketLord & Berry Crayon Lipstick in Intimacy and Luseta Argan Oil Hair Masque. The bronzer looks like it has some shimmer and is a bit patchy and quite dark, I think that this shade would not be that great for a pale skintone. The highlighter is creamy and not too wet, so applying should be easy and it gives a lot of metallic-like shine and some shimmer. The eyeshadow is not as pigmented as I hoped but still looks good and feels soft. The lip crayon is super smooth and pigmented, the only problem that I have is that the crayon actually smells heavily like a pencil/crayon. Speaking of scents, the hair masks works great, really adding moisture to my hair but the product has a very strong hair product like scent, almost giving me a headache, that’s how strong it is. I’m normally all about strong scented products but this is even too much for me.

Ipsy Glam Bag - August 2016 Sugar Highness Look 01

I created this look using all the products inside my Ipsy Glam Bag August 2016. I used the Nomad Cosmetics Eyeshadow in Spice Market as the only eyeshadow for my eyes. I think that the intensity not very strong, this is how far I could get. I’m seriously in love with the Lord & Berry Crayon Lipstick in Intimacy. The shade is perfect and it was so easy to apply on my lips since it’s so smooth. It does really feel comfortable and stays matte. This is definitely my favorite product of this months bag.

Ipsy Glam Bag - August 2016 Sugar Highness Look 02

Looking at the swatches of the  Pacifica Bronzer in Sunkissed, l thought that the bronzer wouldn’t be as pigmented. I was wrong, the bronzer is very pigmented but could be blended out. I used it on the hollows of my cheek and on the top of my forehead. It is quite dark, even for me and can look muddy if not being careful. I also thought that the bronzer would not look good bexause of the subtle shimmer but it is not noticable on my face and just looks like a natural glow. comfortable and stays matte. The NYX  Liquid Illuminator in Gleam was a bit difficult to work with. You have to squeeze out product so too much product can come out very quickly. A little goes a very long way with this stuff. I dabbed a bit of the product on the tops of my cheeks, a bit on the bridge of my nose and cupids bow. It gives a subtle and natural sheen.

Ipsy Glam Bag - August 2016 Sugar Highness 05

I’m really like how Ipsy picks out their products, being able to create a look every single month. Again, I also really like the variety in brands and products. I didn’t receive anything from the same brand in my three bags. Also, all the products that I’ve received so far are good to amazing quality and are definitely the type of products that I would use on a daily basis.

The Ipsy Glam Bag is $10 USD per month. When you use your Shipito address to send the bag to the Netherlands, it will cost an additional $7,25 USD making a total of $17,25 USD per month, which is about €15,50 Euro (check Xe.com for the exact converted price). For me, it took about 2-3 weeks to arrive. I still think that the bag is well worth the price and way better than the products in the Dutch subscription boxes.

If you want, you can subscribe to the Ipsy Glam Bag using this link. This is an affiliate link, which gives me 250 points when someone subscribes via that link. With these points, I can get additional products in my next box but again, feel free to do whatever you want!

Which product is your favorite from this months bag?

Cheers
