Ipsy Glam Bag July 2017

It’s been a while since I discussed the Ipsy Glam Bag on my blog, but I still have been subscribed every month. The reason why it hasn’t been on my blog for so long is that some of the bags weren’t very interesting make-up wise or I just couldn’t fit it in my blogging schedule. However, for the month of July I HAD to show you the bag that I’ve received, because it’s just awesome! If you’re curious about what I got in my Ipsy Glam Bag July 2017, keep reading down below! 

To recap, the Ipsy Glam Bag is a monthly subscription service where you get five beauty products in the bag, depending on your personal preferences, which you can fill in when subscribing. Everyone gets a different content, so you really get a unique and personal bag each month. This subscription service is only available in the U.S. but thanks to Shipito, it is possible to subscribe and send the bag to the Netherlands.

The Ipsy Glam Bag July 2017 is themed “Over Easy” featuring Gudetama, a popular Japanese cartoon character, which is basically an adorable looking, lazy egg. It’s definitely a character that you’ve seen if you’re into the Japanese Kawaii/Anime culture. I really love it, also that they made the back different than the front (that kawaii butt!). It’s probably my favorite bag I’ve received so far. It is of course already August, but I’m always a month behind because of shipping to The Netherlands, but I think a lot of readers like to see what’s in my bag . You can check out my previous Ipsy Bags here.

The Ipsy Glam Bag July 2017 is all about lazy and laid back make-up. My bag contains three products deluxe sized and two full sized products, which are the tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Bronzer, the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara, the Hanalei Lip Treatment in Rose, the Cougar Beauty 24 Hour Liquid Lipstick in Mulberry and the Pacifica Island Life Eyeshadow Palette. I will leave the description of the products according to Ipsy and give you my opinion after.

The tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Bronzer is a bronzer with a hint of shimmer that flatters a variety of skin tones which can be build up from a subtle warmth to an all-out vacation tan. The product inside the bag is deluxe size version. I love tarte AND bronzers so I was really excited to have this in my bag!

The Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara is a very popular mascara with an award-winning formula that gives you length and volume with a false lash effect that can be build up without looking spidery. This is also a deluxe size version. Love Too Faced and deluxe size mascara’s. It’s so convenient to just pop one inside my purse. Definitely happy with this one too!

The next item is the Hanalei Lip Treatment in Rose. This lipbalm type of product has a soft rose shade and contains pure Hawaiian Kukui oil, which is supposed to instantly moisturizes and treat dry, cracked lips. This is a deluxe size product, a convenient product and size that I again like to have around everywhere around the house and in my bag.

The Cougar Beauty 24 Hour Liquid Lipstick in Mulberry is a liquid lipstick with a mauve berry shade that is supposed to be super comfortable, creamy with a long-wearing and non-smudging formula that dries very quickly. As you all might already know, I’m obsessed with liquid lipsticks and these types of shades, so I couldn’t wait to try this one out.

The last item in my Ipsy Glam Bag July 2017 is the Pacifica Island Life Eyeshadow Palette. This is an Ipsy exclusive palette, consisting of five shades and a double-ended applicator. The eyeshadows are made with coconut water and natural minerals for a crease-free, velvety eyeshadow formula. I do like the colors when looking at the palette but it seems quite cheap. It sounds promising though so we’ll see how it applies!

For this eyelook, I used the Pacifica Island Life Eyeshadow Palette and the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara on my upper and bottom lashes. I don’t really like the palette. I tried using all the shades at first but that just doesn’t work out, being that all shades are very frosty or shimmery, so a look with all the shades looks extremely messy. I did use three shades for this look applied all over my eyelid, inner corner and browbone. I’m not too happy how it turned out. I think I would like it better if I would just use one of the colors as an all-over shade, because the colors do look pretty and feel very silky and smooth.

I’m obsessed with the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara. I’ve already tried and emptied one of these before and it’s definitely one of my favorite mascara’s ever. I have long but sparse eyelashes and this mascara just makes them look very full and nicely separated. I used two coats for this look.

For my lips, I applied the Hanalei Lip Treatment in Rose first when starting my makeup, and removed it before applying the Cougar Beauty 24 Hour Liquid Lipstick in Mulberry. The Lip Treatment has a subtle, natural scent and tasted very sweet. It has a really nice lipbalm type of formula and makes my lips feel super nourished and hydrated.

The liquid lipstick definitely has a beautiful color but it does seem a bit patchy up close. The formula has a nice, candy-like scent and feels creamy but thin. I do think it is comfortable at first but it also feels like it’s pulling on my lips, which makes them look more wrinkly and dried up, even though I applied the Lip Treatment before applying this. It’s not a bad formula but it isn’t a great one either.

Finally, here is the complete look including the tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Bronzer. I applied the bronzer somewhat heavily to create a sun-tanned look. The bronzer is sheer and can be easily built up and like I have done. I do think the shade is quite dark, I normally opt for a more warm and lighter shade so I can’t image how it would look like on a lighter skintone. It should be okay when using a light hand but personally think it would suit medium skintones best.

I’m really happy with my Ipsy Glam Bag July 2017. In addition to the awesome bag itself, I really love the type of products that were inside the bag, since I love make-up products. Also, having tarte and Too Faced in there is just awesome! My favorite product in the bag is definitely the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara.

The Ipsy Glam Bag subsciption service is $10 USD per month. When you use your Shipito address to send the bag to the Netherlands, it will cost an additional $7,79 USD making a total of $17,25 USD per month, which is about €15 Euro (check Xe.com for the exact converted price). For me, it took about 2-3 weeks to arrive. I think that the bag is well worth the price and way better than the products in the Dutch subscription boxes.
