Ipsy Glam Bag – October 2016

Hey everyone! I have another Ipsy Glam Bag to show you. I’ve skipped the previous one, only sharing it on my Instagram since there weren’t many make-up products to show. This months bag has enough to give you a nice review. The Ipsy Glam Bag is only available in the U.S. but thanks to Shipito, it is possible to subscribe and send the bag to the Netherlands. The Ipsy Glam Bag October 2016 is themed “Black Magic”. You can check out my previous Ipsy Bags here.

The Ipsy Glam Bag October 2016 was designed in collaboration with Ilse Valfré, an artist who is known for the art style that is drawn on this months Ipsy Bag. It’s super adorable, having a very pale light pink shade as a base and lots of fun greyscale images that reminds you of Halloween like ghosts, witches, candy corns and black cats. I think this is my favorite Glam Bag that I’ve received so far.

The bag contains five items in total. The contents of the Ipsy Glam Bag is different for everyone. You have to fill in your preferences and style during subscription so that you get your own bag filled with your personal preferences. Ipsy Stylists like Chrisspy, Desi Perkins, Lustrelux and Promise Phan pick out products to feature in the bags each month.

The theme of the Ipsy Glam Bag October 2016, “Black Magic” is all about celebrating the fantastical transformational powers of make-up. The card of this month shows the beautiful Ipsy Stylists  Lynette Cenée and Jaleesa Moses.

The first item in my Ipsy Glam Bag October 2016 is the pūr~lisse Daily Lip Nourisher with Mango and Shea Butters. This is a petroleum-free lipbalm that deeply moisturizes, protects from UV-rays and heals with vitamins A, C and E.

The lipbalm is transparent and has a smooth consistency and turns very slippery and oily when applied on my lips. The scent reminds me of mango’s and also has a subtle, sweet citrus-y taste. Since the lipbalm is petroleum-free, it doesn’t create a layer so it is quickly absorbed in my lips. This is probably good since the ingredients are taken in, making my lips feel a bit softer but I personally like and prefer a layer that stays on top of my lips. I think for me personally, the pūr~lisse Daily Lip Nourisher with Mango and Shea Butters is great for applying just before I do my make-up so it is gone when I have to apply my lipstick but I wouldn’t use it when I’m traveling.

The next item is the Kokie Nail Polish in Heavenly. This is a lilac shade with a glossy finish, withstands everyday wear and tear and supposed to be good for the entire week. I really love the black and white striped bottle, it looks very cute and retro!

For this swatch, I used two coats of the Kokie Nail Polish in Heavenly. The polish is more on the thicker side, but applies evenly and dries quickly. My nails are horrible, nailpolishes usually don’t last a day on me but this one does wear very nicely! I have been wearing this for three days, and only my right hand nails have chipped off a bit, mostly because I pick at my nails when I’m stressed but I think it’s doing a great job. I really like the formula and the shade. I will definitely be using this more often, especially during spring time!

The third item in the Ipsy Glam Bag October 2016 is the Tatcha PURE One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil. This cleanser contains nutrient-rich camellia oil and moisturizes as it removes makeup and cleanses, leaving no residue behind, makes skin feel silky and is suitable for all skin types.

It’s funny how I always wanted to try Tatcha products and now I have several to try out! The cleanser has a camellia scent and is quite thin so a little does a long way. The cleanser does a good job in removing all my face make-up but does leave a bit of stubborn eye make-up, which needs a bit more than this cleanser. Overall, I like it because my skin feels great after using this cleanser.

Next up is the Teeez Cosmetics Eve’s Ready to Wear Lipstick in Romantic Red. Funny story about Teeez Cosmetics, I know this brand from many years ago, because it was sold at my local DA Drogist, which is a Dutch Drugstore. I love their packaging and once owned a lipstick but never seemed to purchase more after that. When I was doing research for this blogpost, I found out that the brand is actually Dutch! So it’s great to see that this brand is represented in the Ipsy Glam Bag. I really hope that this makes the brand stand out more, because the lipstick is amazing.

Teeez Cosmetics Eve’s Ready to Wear Lipstick in Romantic Red is a blue-based red with a glossy finish. The pigmentation of this lipstick is insane if you look at how this almost feels like a lipbalm, it’s that soft. This is seriously one of the most soft feeling lipsticks I’ve ever had. I can’t believe that I never re-purchased the lipstick. I’m definitely going to check if I can contact the brand to promote their products, because this brand deserves much more attention than it has now.

The last product in the bag is the Ciaté London Fierce Flicks Eyeliner. This is a felt tip eyeliner pen that is intensely pigmented and opaque in one swipe. It is supposed to be long-lasting and budge-proof formula and glides on, even over eye shadows.

The eyeliner looked very promising, being intensely black and pigmented when swatched. It was also very easy to apply the eyeliner on my lid, it felt very wet so skipping or drying out during application wasn’t any problem. However, I have very oily eyelids and unfortunately, the liner smudges a lot. It doesn’t stay on my eyelids. I didn’t wear a lot of eyeshadow when trying out this liner so it might perform better if I use more powders but for now, I don’t like the formula.

I love this months Ipsy Glam Bag. The Kokie Nail Polish in Heavenly and Teeez Cosmetics Eve’s Ready to Wear Lipstick in Romantic Red are beautiful and amazing, the Tatcha PURE One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil is very good and great for traveling and for people to try out this expensive skincare brand and the pūr~lisse Daily Lip Nourisher with Mango and Shea Butters is also a good product that can be used daily before applying a drying product like some liquid lipsticks. I’m not sure about the Ciaté London Fierce Flicks Eyeliner but I’m willing to give it another chance. My favorite product is definitely the lipstick.

The Ipsy Glam Bag costs $10 USD per month. When you use your Shipito address to send the bag to the Netherlands, it will cost an additional $7,25 USD making a total of $17,25 USD per month, which is about €15,50 Euro (check Xe.com for the exact converted price). For me, it took about 2-3 weeks to arrive. I still think that the bag is well worth the price and way better than the products in the Dutch subscription boxes.

If you want, you can subscribe to the Ipsy Glam Bag using this link. This is an affiliate link, which gives me 250 points when someone subscribes via that link. With these points, I can get additional products in my next box but again, feel free to do whatever you want!

Which product is your favorite from this months bag?

Cheers
