Jeffree Star Cosmetics has launched a Summer Chrome Collection, not only featuring a huge selection of their Velour Liquid Lipsticks, but many other products like Lipscrubs, Cream Lipsticks and Highlighters. Since I don’t own a money tree, I only got two Velour Liquid Lipsticks in the shades Family Jewels and Calabasas.
The Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velour Liquid Lipsticks of the Summer Chrome Collection come in a Limited Edition chrome shade packaging with pink details. The total collection consists of eight Velour Liquid Lipsticks, five Lip Ammunition Lipsticks, three Velour Lip Scrubs and two Skin Frosts.
From all the products, the Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks in Family Jewels and Calabasas stood out to me the most, because I love the brands liquid lipstick formula and don’t use regular lipsticks very often and the highlighter shades weren’t that interesting for me. I did purchase the Velour Lip Scrub in Watermelon Gum, which I’m not interested in to do a review at the moment. All I have to say about that product is that I do love the consistency of the lipscrub but the scent and taste is too fake and chemical.
The tubes of the Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velour Liquid Lipsticks in Family Jewels and Calabasas come in a transparant tube, which also have the Limited Edition chrome packaging with pink details. As per usual, the tube contains 5,6 mL of product in total.
I don’t know what’s up with the applicator of the Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velour Liquid Lipsticks anymore. The wand is still transparant like always, but the doe foot applicator is different every time I have purchased a product. Their original wands had a very fluffy doe-foot applicator with an indentation. The Jeffree Star Cosmetics x Manny MUA Collection (review here) had a non-fluffy applicator. The one from the Summer Chrome Collection is in between so I don’t know if this is will be a permanent version or if this is just a temporary one for the collection.
Here are the arm swatches of the Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velour Liquid Lipsticks in Family Jewels and Calabasas. Both shades are nicely opaque and have a creamy but thin consistency, which dries in about a minute or two. The lipsticks are both transfer and smudge-proof. Unlike the Summer collection from last year (review here), these Velour Liquid Lipsticks are unscented. Only the ones with a metallic finish have a Fresh Strawberry scent. I really love the Rootbeer and Watermelon scented lipsticks from Jeffree Star Cosmetics so I wish that these would also have a scent.
Jeffree Star Cosmetics Family Jewels Velour Liquid Lipstick
Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velour Liquid Lipstick in Family Jewels is a Milk Chocolate Brown shade with a matte finish. Jeffree didn’t mention in his video what his thoughts were behind the shade name. It applies easy and evenly, feels comfortable and lasts for hours, only needing small touch-ups after eating.
I love how Family Jewels looks on me. It’s a beautiful 90’s type of shade and has a nice warmth to it, which looks beautiful on my skintone. It is a nice in-between color for me, not a nude but also not a dark, vampy shade.
Jeffree Star Cosmetics Calabasas Velour Liquid Lipstick
Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velour Liquid Lipstick in Calabasas is a Deep Rose shade with a matte finish. It isn’t actually described like that according to the brand, because it doesn’t have a shade description (also not in Jeffree’s introduction video). It is named after the city where Jeffree lives. This shade also applies easy and evenly, feels comfortable and lasts for hours, only needing small touch-ups after eating.
I think Calabasas is a lighter more of a wearable version of Family Jewels. It also reminds me of a 90’s type of shade, only being more rose-y instead of brown, which is probably suitable for any type of skintone. I love this shade as much as Family Jewels, can’t pick a favorite between these two!.
The Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velour Liquid Lipsticks in Family Jewels and Calabasas of the Summer Chrome Collection are both gorgeous shades with a beautiful formula. They’re not really shades that scream Summer but to me, they both are definitely suitable for all-year round.
The Limited Edition Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks of the Summer Chrome Collection are available starting from €18,40 Euro at Beautybay.com.
Did you get any products from the Summer Chrome Collection? Which product is your favorite?
Omg! Allebei de kleuren zijn echt super mooi! Had niet verwacht dat die bruinige kleur ook zo mooi zou zijn! Ik vind ze beide erg mooi staan, zou ook geen favoriet kunnen kiezen.
