The brand Jeffree Star Cosmetics was launched about a year ago by Jeffree himself and has gained a lot of popularity ever since due to the quality and uniqueness of the brands 100% cruelty-free liquid lipsticks. I don’t know what took me so long, but finally purchased the Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in Androgyny, which I’m going to review today.
Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in Androgyny is a part of the limited edition holiday collection. The lipsticks from the holiday collection have a limited edition packaging. Instead of the usual pink details, Androgyny comes in a white box and top with metallic rosy pink stars details. My order also contained a card with Jeffree Star wearing Androgyny, which I think is a very cute detail to add.
Of all the liquid lipsticks I own, Jeffree Star has the best packaging so far. The details are amazing. The top of the lipstick is white with metallic rosy pink stars imprinted on it. The tube is transparent and has Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick imprinted on it.
The cap has a “clicking” closure system, you can crew on the top and it “clicks” when it’s closed, so you’re always sure that you’re lipstick is properly closed when you’re putting it away. The transparent wand has a very fluffy doe-foot applicator, which slightly bends when you put some pressure on it. I think the quality of the packaging is really amazing. There’s definitely a lot of effort put into this, which I can always appreciate.
Here’s a swatch of the Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in Androgyny. The formula is very opaque and has a thin, watery but still creamy consistency. This is again a unique formula, which I have noticed in all the liquid lipsticks I own. I think it’s a personal matter what kind of formula you like best. To me, this is one of the better formulas. I really like how thin this formula is without being too runny.
Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in Androgyny
Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in Androgyny has a sultry, plum mauve shade with a matte finish. When the lipstick is still wet, it looks slightly more pink-ish. Just like when you look at the product in the tube. When dried and applied on my lips, it changes to the beautiful shade that you see right now. I’m in love with this shade and I can’t stop wearing it.
The lipstick dries in 3-5 minutes. It has a slight scent which I can’t really place, but it doesn’t stink and disappears after the lipstick has dried. Androgyny feels comfortable but slightly drying (as most of the liquid lipsticks do). It stays on very well, it doesn’t move. I can wear this lipstick the whole day without re-applying, even after a meal.
I can’t believe it took me so long to try out one of the Jeffree Star Liquid Lipsticks. I think the overall quality is very good. I really can’t wait to try out more shades.
Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in Androgyny is available for €17.40 Euro at BeautyBay.com.
