Jouer has launched a liquid lipstick set for the holidays called the Jouer Best of Nudes Mini Gift Set. This set features seven deluxe minis of their bestselling nude Long-Wear Lip Crèmes and the Skinny Dip Lip Topper. This set is currently sold out but all the shades are available individually. I’m going to show you swatches of the lipsticks featured in this set.
The set comes in a white, sleeved cardboard box with metallic, champagne gold details. The back of the box shows all the shades inside the set. The size displayed in picture is the actual size of the liquid lipsticks in the set.
Removing the sleeve reveals the lipsticks, which are placed in a circle and also shows the name for each shade. I really love how the packaging looks. It’s perfect to give as a gift however, is very impractical. It’s very big and takes a lot of space for just eight lipsticks. I have no idea where I’m going to store this but throwing away the outside packaging seems like such a waste because it’s so pretty!
The lipstick tube is transparent and has a rectangular shape with the Jouer logo on top. It has a short, regular doe foot applicator. I don’t know how the applicator is compared to a fullsized version, because I don’t own any. The mini’s contain 4 mL of product each.
Here are the swatches of all the lipstick in the Jouer Best of Nudes Mini Gift Set. All lipsticks have their slight differences but they’re overall creamy and pigmented. They all dry completely in about 3-5 minutes in to a matte finish, except for Papaye, who has a metallic matte finish and Skinny Dip, which stays tacky and creamy. All the Long-Wear Lip Crèmes stay slightly tacky and do transfer and smudge but ever so slightly during initial wear. Over time, it becomes transfer and smudge-proof. All lipsticks have a warm, vanilla-bean scent. Each shade has a different intensity of the scent, with Skinny Dip having the strongest intensity, which I personally really like.
Jouer Terra Long-Wear Lip Crème
The Jouer Long-Wear Lip Crème in Terra is described as a matte neutral deep ochre. This is a really perfect nude lip for my skin tone. It’s a dirty, dusty rose kind of shade and I really love these type of shades on me. It feels very comfortable, wears really well over time and can be retouched without any problems.
Jouer Buff Long-Wear Lip Crème
The Jouer Long-Wear Lip Crème in Buff is described as a matte warm peachy nude. This is the lightest shade in the set and as you can see, it’s way too light for my skin tone. I also don’t like pale shades like this because they usually have a very difficult formula. This one applies even but it immediately breaks down on the inner rim of my lips as you can already see in the swatches, giving the dreaded “butthole lips”. It also can look very chalky, so this shade is not something I would recommend.
Jouer Dulce de Leche Long-Wear Lip Crème
The Jouer Long-Wear Lip Crème in Dulce de Leche is described as a matte cool nude. This is another shade that becomes very pink on my lips while looking completely different in the tube. This shade looks also really light on me but is just okay for my skin tone. It’s comfortable, easy to wear and easy to retouch.
Jouer Papaye Long-Wear Lip Crème
The Jouer Long-Wear Lip Crème in Papaye is described as a metallic warm peach. This is the only shade in the set that has a metallic finish. It looks so cool and completely different on everyone. On me, it is very light and pink with duochrome shifts of light yellow/pink. I really love what this shade does but again, might be too light for me. I might be able to darken it by applying a darker liner underneath. This is another shade that was easy to apply and wears comfortably.
Jouer Noisette Long-Wear Lip Crème
The Jouer Long-Wear Lip Crème in Noisette is described as a matte warm chocolate brown. This is the darkest shade in the set. This is probably my favorite shade, It looks so warm and yummy, I really love how it looks on me. Again another comfortable shade that wears really well over time.
Jouer Melon Long-Wear Lip Crème
The Jouer Long-Wear Lip Crème in Melon is described as a matte warm pink nude. This is a very lovely and girly shade. Another shade that I can just barely wear with my skin tone. I think this is a really great nude shade for spring time. This shade is comfortable but is another shade that tends to break down more on the inner rim of the lips.
Jouer Crème Brûlee Long-Wear Lip Crème
The Jouer Long-Wear Lip Crème in Melon is described as a matte warm pink nude. This looks like an orange peachy nude on my lips. I’m not a huge fan of the shade but I think that this would look beautiful on girls with lighter skin tones. Another comfortable and easy to wear shade, with slight tendency to break down in the inner rim of the lips.
Jouer Skinny Dip Lip Topper
The Jouer Skinny Dip Lip Topper is described as a metallic shimmering golden nude. As the name already implies, this is a lip product that is meant to go over a lipstick. I’m wearing the product on its own in the pictures above. It is super pretty and shimmery. Pictures really don’t do justice because it doesn’t capture the amazing shimmer effect when moving.
I’ve applied a bit of the Jouer Skinny Dip Lip Topper on top of Noisette in the middle op my lips by applying with my finger, because I didn’t want the wand to get dirty with the other shade. I really love the effect of the lip topper, making my lips look more full and luxurious. YOu will lose the transfer and smudge proof properties of a matte liquid lipstick when using the Jouer Skinny Dip Lip Topper, because it doesn’t dry. I would consider this as a gloss type of product, so you know what to expect.
Here is an overview of all the shades on my lips. What is really surprising to me is that all the shades are waaaaaaaaaaaaayyy lighter on my lips than looking at the tube and swatched on my arms. I have very pigmented lips so it might be that the shades adjust to that. I really didn’t think that the shades would be so light on me, so I’m kind of disappointed because a lot of them are just barely wearable on my skin tone. I probably wouldn’t have picked them if I would buy them individually. So I also wouldn’t recommend buying the set if you have a similar or darker skin tone than myself. These set would probably be perfect and look great on lighter skin tones though!
Even though the shades are not necessarily great for my skin tone, the formula is great. Overall, they apply very easy and evenly, feel comfortable and have a great wear time. I would suggest to check out the Skinny Dip Lip Topper, it’s really a great product to completely transform your lipsticks.
Unfortunately, the Jouer Best of Nudes Mini Gift Set sold out immediately after it came out. It might be that there will be a restock but since this is a limited edition set for the holidays, it probably is sold out permanently. You can buy all the Jouer Long-Wear Lip Crème shades individually for £15.00 GBP each (check Xe.com for the current price in Euro) and the Jouer Skinny Dip Lip Topper for £13.50 GBP at Cultbeauty.co.uk.
