Kylie Cosmetics has released four new Lip Kit shades for October. These shades are probably Limited Edition, but it can’t find anything concrete about it. Let’s hope that they restock permanently because fall colors are my favorite type of shades. For this post, I’m going to show you the two new shades, Kylie Cosmetics Pumpkin and Spice Lip Kits.
I just wanted to mention something quickly because I have seen so many fake Kylie Lip Kits swirling around Facebook and other social media pages. All Lip Kits that are not from the official KylieCosmetics.com website that have a lower pricing are 100% fake. Please don’t fall for it because you don’t know what’s in there. Even KylieCosmetics.com has stated on their FAQ page that they don’t work with any other retailers.
I always have gotten my Kylie Cosmetics Lip Kits from the official page, where you also get a card with a personal message from Kylie. The card has the same dripping lip artwork in front as the lipkits. The back of the card has a personal message from Kylie in her handwriting that says:
“Thank you so much for purchasing your Kylie Lip Kit! I hope you enjoy using it as much as I ejoyed creating it. I put my heart and soul into each and every kit and I want to thank you for joining me on my journey. xoxo Kylie”.
The Kylie Lip Kits come in a box that has dripping lip artwork with the color of the representing shade. The shade name is on top of the box and on the back, you can see some extra information regarding the ingredients etc.
The Kylie Cosmetics Lip Kit consists of one lip liner and one matte liquid lipstick. The Kylie Matte Liquid Lipstick contains 3.25 mL of product and comes in a transparant tube with black details. The Kylie Lip Liners contains 1 gr of product and comes in a black wooden pencil which shows the color on the bottom.
The Kylie Matte Liquid Lipstick comes with a regular doe foot applicator. The applicator is stiff and doesn’t bend during application, which is my favorite type of applicator. The doe foot is rather small so you can carefully apply the lipstick.
Here are the swatches of the Kylie Lipkits in Pumpkin (left side) and Spice (right side). The Kylie Lip Liners are very soft, pigmented and glide easily while swatching. The Pumpkin Lip Liner is very opaque and applies even, the Spice Lip Liner is less opaque and applies a bit uneven but is still fine to work with.
The formula of Kylie Matte Liquid Lipstick in Pumpkin is thin and oily but dry very quickly. Spice is slightly thicker and dries even more quickly, which I don’t like because I like to have a little bit of play time during application. The liquid lipsticks dry down to a super flat, matte finish. There is no shine whatsoever in these liquid lipstick and are completely smudge and transfer proof. The Kylie Matte Liquid Lipsticks also have scent, it has a very sweet and sugary bakery scent. This is very noticeable during application but fades ones it has dried.
The tip that Kylie suggests for application (which is mentioned on the packaging of the box) is to line your lips first using the Kylie Lip Liner and fill in using the Liquid Lipstick. I used this method for the swatches down below
Kylie Cosmetics Lip Kit in Pumpkin
The Kylie Cosmetics Lip Kit in Pumpkin is a dirty mid-tone orange shade. I never thought I would like an orange shade on me but I’m completely obsessed with this shade. It’s unique, beautiful and screams Fall. I will probably wear this shade very often during this period. The formula is one of the more of the drier liquid lipsticks and stays on all day, completely smudge and transfer proof except after a meal but still stays on very well and only needs small touch-ups.
Kylie Cosmetics Lip Kit in Spice
The Kylie Cosmetics Lip Kit in Spice is a deepened raspberry-plum shade. I’m a sucker for shades like this one. I like to wear this raspberry type of shades any time of the year. This one is beautiful too but unfortunately, is a bit more difficult to work with compared to the other Kylie Cosmetics Lip Kits. This shade is slightly patchy when you work in layers so touch-ups are a bit less clean looking. Also, the shade feels grainy but it doesn’t look grainy and it also doesn’t crumble, but it makes it less comfortable. It also stains very badly. Even though I love the shade, I wouldn’t recommend this Lip Kit, because there are many similar shades on the market that perform better than this one.
The Kylie Cosmetics Pumpkin and Spice Lip Kits are available for $29 USD at KylieCosmetics.com (excluding shipping to the Netherlands and possible extra customs taxes, check Xe.com for the current price in Euro). The shades are currently available but they sell out very often. If there’s a sold out shade that you would like to have, I would suggest to keep a close eye out on the Kylie Cosmetics Instagram page for updates on restocking dates/times.
Did you get any of the Kylie Cosmetics Lip Kit October shades?
