LA Splash is a fairly new brand that has gained a lot of popularity with their Lip Couture Liquid Lipsticks. There are so many different shades to pick from, from bold colors like green and blue to beautiful neutral shades. For today, I’m going to review the LA Splash Lip Couture in Latte Confession.
The LA Splash Lip Couture Lipstick comes in a transparent plastic tube where you can see the product. There are gold details on the lid and on the transparent part, which has the logo and lip couture spelled on the opposite side.
You can apply the lipstick with the doe foot applicator. The shape is somewhat different to a regular doe foot applicator. It is more elongated and thinner. The tip is stiff and not super fluffy, it doesn’t move when you apply the lipstick. I think the applicator is nice but I don’t have any problems with applying Liquid Lipsticks with a normal doe foot applicator either, so for me it doesn’t have an extra benefit.
Now for the fun part, the formula. Sit back and relax because I have to explain this in much detail. The LA Splash Lip Couture in Latte Confession’s formula is extremely thin and oily but still nicely opaque. It’s so weird, because you would never think that this formula would ever dry to a matte finish. Well.. it does, it is one of the most matte liquid lipsticks that I’ve tried. It does take quite some time for it to be completely matte, I would say 5-10 minutes, but it is already transfer-proof after three minutes, but it still will feel a bit sticky. Another thing I want to mention is that the smell is horrible, really REALLY horrible. It smells like chemicals, like WTF did they put in here to make it smell so bad, it smells like this lipstick does not have any natural products in there, it’s that bad. The smell does go away after it has dried but man, it is the most terrible smell in a lipstick that I’ve ever had. With that said, if you lick your lips after it has dried, it tastes awful, so be careful with that.
LA Splash Lip Couture in Latte Confession
LA Splash Lip Couture in Latte Confession is a creamy reddish brown/rose-y liquid lipstick. You would think that this shade would be more brown if you look at the name, it has some brown in it but I would personally not call it a brown shade. I think it looks a bit more warm and reddish in real life compared to what the pictures make of it.
What is also striking to me is that Latte Confession (which also is the case for the other shades that I own) does not look anything like the promotion picture that LA Splash shows for this shade. I have to say that this is a type of shade that can change dramatically depending on your skin tone or the pigmentation of your lips. So definitely check out swatches before making a purchase.
Latte Confession feels very oily at first like described above but changes into an extremely matte formula after a few minutes. I personally do not prefer this type of finish, since my lips will get very wrinkly because of that. It also feels extremely drying and pulls on my lips, which I can feel the whole time wearing this lipstick. According to LA Splash, the formula of the Lip Couture Liquid Lipsticks are waterproof. I can tell you that Latte Confession is definitely waterproof, smudgeproof, everythingproof. Seriously, this lipstick is not going anywhere. After a heavy make-out session or even eating greasy food, it just stays where you have placed it without smudging, it’s insane. The only way how I can remove this lipstick is by rubbing my lips with a cotton pad soaked with an oil base make-up remover.
LA Splash Lip Couture in Latte Confession is a liquid lipstick that has a lot of amazing pros but also a few cons. If you can overlook the awful smell and extremely dry feeling, you should definitely try this lipstick. It is the most smudge-proof and long lasting liquid lipstick that I’ve tried so far. The LA Splash Lip Couture Liquid Lipsticks are available in a broad spectrum of amazing and unique shades, and I will certainly get more of them in the future.
LA Splash Lip Couture in Latte Confession is available for €12,20 Euro at BeautyBay.com.
