Hi all. I have another liquid lipstick review of the brand LA Splash. This brand has so many different liquid lipstick shades to pick from. I’m a huge fan of dark, vampy lips during the fall/winter period, so I picked up LA Splash Lip Couture in Malevolent. I already have another LA Splash Lip Couture shade in Latte Confession, you can check out my review here. For those who haven’t read that one, I will put every detail of the packaging in this review too.
The LA Splash Lip Couture Lipsticks come in a transparent plastic tube where you can see the product. There are gold details on the lid and on the transparent part, which has the logo and lip couture spelled on the opposite side. The lipstick is applied with a doe foot applicator. The shape is somewhat different to a regular doe foot applicator, more elongated and thinner. The tip is stiff, it doesn’t move when you apply the lipstick. I think the applicator okay, I don’t see any extra benefits to the shape compared to a regular doe foot applicator.
The LA Splash Lip Couture in Malevolent‘s formula is thin and oily, slightly thicker compared to the shade Latte Confession but still opaque. It applies a bit patchy on the swatch but it isn’t noticeable on the lips. It does take quite some time for it to be completely matte, it dries fully in about 5 minutes. I again want to mention is that the smell is horrible, like chemicals. It does go away after application and I’m kind of used to it by now, since all LA Splash liquid lipsticks I’ve tried smell like these, but I wish that they do something about it.
LA Splash Lip Couture in Malevolent is a dark purple matte liquid lipstick. The lipstick applies opaque and even on my lips, which is usually very difficult for darker shades like these. I can feel the lipstick sitting on top of my lips throughout the day, it tightens up after drying so it pulls and feels more drying compared to other liquid lipstick brands.
I really love this shade on me, I think this is a perfect shade for the fall/winter time. It is smudge-proof and will survive drinks and meals. It does fade off after about 4 hours starting on the inside of the lips, giving the dreaded “butt-hole” lips look, but it is very easy to re-apply on the places that has faded without becoming patchy, just keep checking your lips two hours or so after application and you’ll be fine.
LA Splash Lip Couture in Malevolent is a great dark purple lipstick, perfect for the time of year and is long lasting and not patchy. If you can overlook the awful smell and extremely dry feeling, you should definitely try this lipstick. The LA Splash Lip Couture in Malevolent is available for €12,20 Euro at BeautyBay.com.
Would you wear a dark and bold lipstick in this time of year?
