Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge Drama Matte Lipstick Review

Lancôme has reinvented their L’Absolu Rouge Lipsticks with the brand new Drama Matte finish, giving your lips a bold, powdery matte look without having a dried out appearance.  The formula is described to be ultra comfortable and highly pigmented with smooth application. In today’s post, I’m going to show you a selection of the Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge Drama Matte Lipsticks.

The Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge Drama Matte Lipsticks are held in a matte black lipstick tube, containing 3,4 grams of product each. The lipsticks are revealed by pressing the rose on top of the casing. These lipsticks are available in 24 shades, which some of them come in a Limited Edition packaging that has the same color as the lipstick shade, such as the shade Rose Lancôme seen in the picture above.

I’m extremely obsessed with the packaging. I’m a complete sucker for innovative packaging so pressing the top to make the lipstick pop at the bottom makes me very happy. The tube also looks beautifully luxurious and feels nicely sturdy.

Here are swatches of the Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge Drama Matte Lipstick shades in SensualitéBronzite AbsoluRose Lancôme and Saphir Absolu. As you can see from the picture, there are also Metallic Matte shades available in the range. These swatch less opaque and slightly patchy in comparison to the matte shades, which I found no problem with. All of them are creamy and have a noticeable rosewater scent. I absolutely love the scent of the lipsticks but if you are sensitive to scents and/or don’t like the smell of roses, you might want to skip this product.

For the lip swatches below, I couldn’t find any shade descriptions by the brand so I’m going to to try and explain them as how I would describe the shade.

Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge Drama Matte Lipstick in Sensualité

The Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge Drama Matte Lipstick in Sensualité is what I would describe as a Dusty Rose Nude shade with a Matte finish. I have a soft spot for these kinds of shades and this one looks absolutely gorgeous. The shade applied easy and evenly.

Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge Drama Matte Lipstick in Bronzite Absolu

The Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge Drama Matte Lipstick in Bronzite Absolu is what I would describe as a Warm Bronze shade with a Metallic Matte finish. This is a very unusual and unique shade, and I kinda like it! My lips do look a little more wrinkled but it isn’t as bad as what I’ve seen with other metallic lipsticks. You can use this shade sheer or as a top coat by applying a thin layer on it’s own or on top of another color. You can also apply multiple layers for a opaque look like I did in the picture above. It is more difficult to apply opaque so I would suggest to use a lip liner to make it easier.

Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge Drama Matte Lipstick in Rose Lancôme

The Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge Drama Matte Lipstick in Rose Lancôme is what I would describe as a Raspberry Red shade with a Matte finish. This shade is Limited Edition with the special casing and I think it looks so beautiful and feminine. I think shade would compliment many different skin tones. It is opaque and very easy to apply. This shade does stain your lips pink. I didn’t have problems with staining using the other shades.

Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge Drama Matte Lipstick in Saphir Absolu

The Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge Drama Matte Lipstick in Saphir Absolu is what I would describe as a Deep Sapphire Blue shade with a Metallic Matte finish. This is another very unusual and unique shade. Again, I think it looks kinda interesting! The metallic finish really compliments this shade, making it look very royal and rich. Like the other metallic shade, it’s not a color for everyone but I’m personally mesmerized by this shade. It does require a few coats to become fully opaque so I would suggest to use a black liner as a base to make application easier.

I would without a doubt recommend to check out the Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge Drama Matte Lipsticks if you’re a fan of high-end lipsticks or if you find most matte liquid lipsticks too drying. These lipsticks have a classic and unique range of colors with different matte finishes, which are beautiful in their own way.

Because they’re matte, they are long-lasting for a lipstick but do transfer. These feel creamy but are more drying as a regular creamy lipstick however, less drying than an average matte liquid lipstick. My favorite shades of the bunch are Sensualité and Saphir Absolu.

The Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge Drama Matte Lipsticks have a suggested retail price of €35,00 Euro each and are available at several Lancôme retailers such as Douglas.nlIciParisXL.nl and The Bijenkorf Warehouses.
