The MAC Cosmetics Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour is a long-wearing, saturated liquid lipstick with a classic suede finish. The lipsticks are described to wear evenly and smoothly for up to eight hours. For today’s post, I’m going to review and swatch the shades Burnt Spice, So Me and Topped With Brandy.
The MAC Cosmetics Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour comes in a plastic, transparent tube with a black handle and silver details, holding 5 mL of product. The top looks exactly like a classic MAC Cosmetics lipstick cap. I do think it looks original but I don’t find it to be very attractive looking.
Fortunately, the wand does look beautiful, being transparent with a tear-drop shaped, doe foot applicator that bends slightly with pressure.
Here are swatches of the MAC Cosmetics Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour in Burnt Spice, So Me and Topped With Brandy. The product has a lightweight, creamy texture. The lipsticks apply very evenly and dry quickly with what I would describe as a flat matte finish. They all have a subtle scent of buttery vanilla.
Since these liquid lipsticks are the same in application and texture, I’m going to show the individual swatches down below with the shade description and will further explain the details in the summery at the end.

Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour in So Me

Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour in Topped With Brandy
The c in Topped With Brandy is described as a Deep Dirty Rose shade.
All the MAC Cosmetics Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour shades mentioned in this review apply evenly, are completely transfer, smudge-proof and are extremely long-lasting. These do transfer and fade a bit when eating greasy food, but is very easy to re-apply and layer.
My lips look smooth when I just have my mouth closed but because of the matte formula, it looks wrinkly when I pucker up my lips like in the close-up shots. The flat matte, completely transfer-proof formula feels very dry but that’s completely normal for such a formula. I used to be a fan of these types of liquid lipsticks but I don’t find them comfortable anymore. I do love how opaque and bold these liquid lipsticks are.
I would not suggest these liquid lipsticks if you don’t like the feeling of dry lips but if you’re used to wearing long-wear, very matte liquid lipsticks, these are one of the most “comfortable” you can find. The product absolutely has a great transfer-proof liquid lipstick formula. They’re easy to apply and are available in over 20 different shades. My favorite shade of these three is Topped With Brandy.
The MAC Cosmetics Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour is available for €24,50 Euro each at the Maccosmetics.nl, as well as Douglas.nl and selected Douglas Stores.
Are you still a fan of liquid lipsticks that have a flat matte finish?
