MAC Lipsticks are known for their high quality, large variety of colours and finishes. There are so many MAC lipsticks to the point that a lot of colours almost look the same when just looking at the lipstick however, they can look very different after applying. To show you these slight differences, I am going to review three nude shades from the MAC Lipstick collection; MAC Faux, Mehr & Please Me.
Looking at these lipsticks, they look very similar. You also can’t really tell that they have different kinds of finishes. You can see a slight difference in undertone, more on the pink or brown side, which can be very important depending on your skin tone and/or preferences.
Faux has a Satin finish, while Mehr and Please Me have a Matte finish. You will clearly see the differences between finishes in the swatches. On a side note: I still don’t understand the different font (sizes) on the back of the MAC lipsticks. they are so very different depending on which lipstick you pick! And I can assure you that these are all from the MAC store. There are many people who try to sell fake MAC lipsticks, which are very difficult to distinguish, especially if the print is different for each lipstick colour.
Swatches from left to right: MAC Faux (Satin), MAC Mehr (Matte) and MAC Please Me (Matte). From these swatches, you can already see a bigger difference in colour. All lipsticks are very creamy and pigmented. They also have the signature Vanilla scent that all MAC lipsticks have.
MAC Faux is described as a muted mauve-pink with a satin finish. I thought that this colour would be my least favorite however, I’m in love with this colour. It has been my favorite nude lipstick for this month. The cooler mauve-y tone is very apparent in this lipstick. Since this lipstick has a satin finish, the lipstick has a subtle, creamy shine. The lipstick stays on my lips without any problems, I do have to re-apply after eating.
MAC Mehr is described as a dirty blue pink with a matte finish. Compared to Faux, this colour is a bit darker, slightly more brown-y (hence the dirty part in the description?) and more intense due to the matte finish. The matte formula of the MAC lipsticks are less matte compared to a liquid lipstick formula, and is also much more comfortable to wear.
MAC Please Me
MAC Please Me is described as a muted-rosy-tinted pink with a matte finish. This lipstick is like the description says, a lot more pink-y toned compared to the other lipsticks, which makes it looking more soft and sweet.
Here are the lip swatches next to each other; MAC Faux, Mehr & Please Me. Similar, beautiful colours that are still very unique in their own way.
You can purchase MAC Faux, Mehr & Please Me for €19,00 Euro at maccosmetics.nl and at the MAC counters. I would highly suggest if you’re looking for your perfect nude colour, to visit a MAC counter, swatch to see how they look on your skin tone and ask for advice.
