MAC Heroine has been one of the most unique and bold colours in the MAC Lipstick range. It began as a Limited Edition shade, and was re-released as a permanent shade in March 2014. Not only that, MAC has also released a Heroine Lip Pencil and a Lipglass. Since I’m not so fond of Lipgloss type of products, I only purchased the Heroine Lipstick and Lip Pencil, which I’m going to review for you today.
Since these products are from the permanent range, they come in the standard MAC Packaging. I always love the exterior of MAC products. It’s black, simple and modern (Never can go wrong with that right?).
Here are the swatches of the Heroine Lipstick (left) and Lip Pencil (right). MAC describes Heroine as a “Bright Purple with a Matte Finish”. As you can see, the Lipstick and Lip Pencil are very much different in colour. The Lipstick is more cooled toned with a blue base compared to the Lip Pencil, which looks more like a warm toned purple. Also, the Lipstick does not really have a matte finish, I would say it is more of a Amplified or Creme finish.
MAC Heroine Lipstick
The MAC Heroine Lipstick is easy to apply. It has an almost full coverage. Since it is more blue toned, it is a more edgy and difficult colour to wear. This lipstick doesn’t feel drying nor hydrating.
MAC Heroine Lip Pencil
The MAC Heroine Lip Pencil is a bit more difficult to apply. Because it is so dry, I would suggest to apply a lipbalm, wait a few minutes and wipe it off before applying this Lip Pencil. It will also cling to every single dry patch on your lips. I would highly recommend to exfoliate your lips if you would use this lip pencil by itself. It is also feels very drying. I have to mention that I do like the range of Lip Pencil colours that MAC offers however, I never really liked the formula of the MAC Lip Pencils. I much more prefer the MAC Pro Longwear Lipliners formula. Please MAC, change all the Lip Pencils to that formula!! Anyways, this Lip Pencil is highly pigmented and opaque when applied. Since the Lip Pencil is more of a warm toned, it is much more wearable for the average persons liking compared to the Lipstick.
MAC Heroine Lip Pencil and Lipstick combined
The combination of the MAC Heroine Lipstick makes a very bold and bright cool-toned purple colour. I think they are amazing togethe. This combination really takes Heroine to a level of perfection.
This isn’t a colour for the faint of heart. It is very unique and stunning, which is always great in my book. The MAC Heroine Lipstick (€19 Euro) and Lip Pencil (€15 Euro) are available at maccosmetics.nl and at the MAC counters.

Looks like a lipstick that I need in my stash.. How long does the lipstick stay on your lipstick? And in combination with the lipliner?

Hey Lonneke. It stays on very nicely, although you have to re-apply after eating something and it also feathers a bit after about 6 hours on me. In combination with the lipliner, it stays on even better, I don’t even think you have to re-apply after eating (depending on what you eat of course). I also would recommend using the lipliner because it prevents feathering but you can also use a transparent lipliner on the outside of our lips. Xx
Wauw, het staat echt enorm goed bij je haarkleur haha!
Oh, je haar is fantastisch, ik blijf het mooi vinden! De lipstick gecombineerd met de lipliner is gewoon fenomenaal. De kleuren versterken elkaar nog meer, het komt beter tot zijn recht + de glans die eroverheen zit is intenser. Ik zou de kleur zeker dragen, maar helaas koop ik geen MAC meer, nadat zij weer op dieren zijn gaan testen. But that color thoooo!
