Molly Cosmetics Matte Liquid Lipsticks

Molly Cosmetics is an Indie brand created by two make-up specialists from Hong Kong. The brand has had a lot of attention recently due to the Silisponge, which is a tool they have invented to apply foundation. However, did you know they also create liquid lipsticks? There are a lot of different shades available and also shades with a duochrome/metallic finish! I’ve received two shades of the Molly Cosmetics Matte Liquid Lipsticks from Coos Shop, which are  Hot Chocolate and Tourmaline. I’m going to review both of the shades in this post.

The Molly Cosmetics Matte Liquid Lipsticks come in a transparent tube with black details that contains 3,3 grams of product. The handle has a black matte finish and a clear top, which I think looks great and unique. At first, it seems like the logo is printed on the surface of the tube, but it’s actually a sticker which goes completely around the tube so you almost don’t notice it. I actually like this way better than printed because the problem that many brands have with their packaging, is that the print scratches off and will look bad over time, even so far that you can’t see what brand the lipstick is from at all. You won’t have that problem with this type of packaging and I really am impressed by how luxurious, simple and timeless the tube looks. The name of the shade is on a sticker on the bottom of the tube.

The applicator as an elongated, thin doe foot applicator. The applicator is slightly bendable if you put some pressure on it. I like this applicator. Because the tip is so thin, I can easily reach the borders of my lips with a lot of precision.

Here are the swatches of the Molly Cosmetics Matte Liquid Lipsticks in Hot Chocolate (left) and Tourmaline (right). Both shades are very pigmented and opaqe in one swipe. The formula is creamy but very thin. It doesn’t contain any additional scent so it does smell a bit chemically but it isn’t too strong and disappears after the lipstick dries down. Even though the consistency is thin, it takes about three to five minutes to complete dry.

Molly Cosmetics Matte Liquid Lipstick in Hot Chocolate

Molly Cosmetics Matte Liquid Lipstick in Hot Chocolate is a warm, chocolate/mauve shade with a matte finish. I’m so obsessed with this shade. It’s such a wearable neutral shade and applies very evenly. The lipstick is very lightweight due to the thin formula. Even though it’s so lightweight, I do notice it’s there. The very matte finish makes the lipstick feel very drying so I would suggest to hydrate your lips well before applying this lipstick. Hot Chocolate is long-lasting and completely smudge and transfer proof. Over time, the lipstick faded the most on the middle of my lips. It is easy to re-apply but like all liquid lipsticks, it’s best to avoid greasy food products.

Molly Cosmetics Matte Liquid Lipstick in Tourmaline

Molly Cosmetics Matte Liquid Lipstick in Tourmaline is a soft pink shade with shifts of champagne gold with a metallic finish. If you have been following me for sometime already, you probably notice how tan I’ve become since my holiday in Thailand. Because of my tan, this shade is too light for me. I do think that the shade would look good on me when I become lighter again. At first, the shade is really metallic and duochrome but over time, the gold fades away bit by bit and the shade becomes more pink. Because of that, Tourmaline is smudge proof but not transfer proof. The pink base does stay put and it very long-lasting. The lipstick formula feels the same as Hot Chocolate; thin, lightweight but dry.

I’m super impressed by the Molly Cosmetics Matte Liquid Lipsticks, especially because it’s an Indie brand! The shade range is amazing, I love the packaging and I love that the formula is thin, long-lasting, smudge proof and applies evenly. The only things that I don’t like that much is that the lipsticks feel very dry when applied and that they don’t have any scent. FYI, according to the brand, the lipsticks are Cruelty FreeParaben Free and Gluten Free.
