NARS Liquid Lip Collection Review

NARS Cosmetics has a variety of lip products available in a liquid formula, each having different finishes such as the Full Vinyl Lip Lacquer, Velvet Lip Glide and the Powermatte Lip Pigment. I’m going to review and show you the differences of these NARS Liquid Lip Collection products in today’s post.

NARS Full Vinyl Lip Lacquer

The NARS Full Vinyl Lip Lacquer (€26,00 Euro/5,5 mL) is a lipgloss with an innovative, non-sticky formula, providing extreme high-shine and a mirror-like reflective finish. The creamy formula is infused with Vitamin E for a nourishment and a moisturizing feeling.

The product comes in a transparent, plastic tube with silver details. Opening the tube reveals a two-sided, customized applicator. One side has a plush texture, featuring a reservoir to deposit the ideal amount of product to the lips. The other side is completely smooth, which can evenly distribute the product and intensifies shine for a more polished look.

I’ve received two shades of the NARS Full Vinyl Lip LacquersAt First Sight (top) and Santo Domingo (bottom). Both of them have a creamy texture and a warm, sugary scent. They are supposed to be buildable with a full coverage color however, I don’t think it is possible with these shades (especially At First Sight since this is a clear shade). I do think they are buildable but to a certain extent.

The NARS Full Vinyl Lip Lacquer in At First Sight is a Clear shade with a Gold Pearl. The gold glitters are beautiful and nicely visible in size. I usually don’t like this type of glittery glosses when it comes to comfortability, because I usually feel the grittiness of the glitter but I don’t feel anything with this one! The formula looks super wet and glossy, while the glitters reflect beautifully when it catches light. I think is a beautiful shade on its own or as a topper.

The NARS Full Vinyl Lip Lacquers in Santo Domingo is a Mauve Pink shade. Unfortunately, this is a shade that settles in to fine lines, which you can clearly see from the close-up swatches however, it doesn’t look bad at all from a distance. I do think the shade and super glossy finish are gorgeous so I would highly recommend to use a lipstick or lip liner as a base before applying this shade.

NARS Velvet Lip Glide

The NARS Velvet Lip Glide (€26,00 Euro/5,7 mL) is a hybrid between lipgloss and lipstick, which glides like a gloss and covers like a lipstick, resulting in a smooth finish with a high opacity of color. The formula is enriched with an Oil Infusion Complex, which is a combination of precious oils fused for a smooth and moisturizing effect. The formula is also infused with Water Lily Flowers and White Tea Extract for antioxidant protection and hydration.

The product comes in a transparent, plastic tube with matte black details. Opening the tube reveals a regular doe-foot applicator.

I’ve received two shades of the NARS Velvet Lip GlidesSwing (top) and Mars (bottom). Both of them have an oily and thin but creamy texture with a warm, vanilla scent. I don’t think that these are fully opaque (which they are not claimed to be as well) but both have a nice color-payoff.

The NARS Velvet Lip Glide in Swing is a Neutral Rose shade. The product covered my lips evenly, doesn’t settle in fine lines and looks absolutely amazing. I think this is a gorgeous nude shade which wears very comfortably and has a beautiful shine.

The NARS Velvet Lip Glide in Mars is a Warm Brown shade. I think this is a beautiful shade as well however, since this is a darker shade and not fully opaque, it does tend to look patchy so this is a shade that would definitely benefit from a lip pencil or lipstick base.

NARS Powermatte Lip Pigment

The NARS Powermatte Lip Pigment (€26,00 Euro/5,5 mL) is a full-coverage, long lasting liquid lipstick. The formula is made with a Fluid Pigment Complex, which provides a lightweight and comfortable texture. I’m already familiar with the NARS Powermatte Lip Pigments. More detailed reviewes of other shades can be found here and here.

The product comes in a matte black, plastic tube with a transparent window where the shade is visible. Opening the tube reveals a custom doe-foot applicator, which is slimmer and more pointed than an average one.

I’ve received two shades of the NARS Powermatte Lip PigmentsCall Me (top) and Somebody To Love (bottom). Both of them have a very thin, oily and runny consistency with a complete matte finish. NARS actually describes it as putting an ink on the lips. I’m not sure that is only a positive thing because you can see that the product bleeds on the texture of my skin. Therefore, I would definitely suggest to use a lip liner if you have a tendency of lipsticks to bleed outside the borders of your lips. These products have a very pleasant Vanilla Bean scent.

The NARS Powermatte Lip Pigment in Call Me is a Coral shade. It was very difficult to apply this shade evenly, because it was very patchy. This is common for bright coral shades like this one that have a lot of white pigment in their base, but it still would be nice if the formula was a bit better. It does look beautiful when you take your time for it and feels comfortable to wear for a very matte liquid lipstick.

The NARS Powermatte Lip Pigment in Somebody To Love is a Rose Brown shade. This shade applied easy and evenly. I think this is one of my favorite shades in general and I think it’s perfect for the time of year. I mentioned this already in my previous reviews, but the formula of the NARS Powermatte Lip Pigment is one of my favorites when it comes to liquid lipsticks due to the longevity and comfortability.

As you can see, there is a great variety in the NARS Liquid Lip Collection. I think they are all beautiful in their own way and feel very comfortable however, not all of the shades of the different products perform the same, so I would definitely suggest to check them out in stores yourself or read reviews on the shade that you’re looking for!

My favorite picks of this bunch are the NARS Full Vinyl Lip Lacquer in At First SightVelvet Lip Glide in Swing and the NARS Powermatte Lip Pigment in Somebody To Love.
