NARS Orgasm 2018 Collection Review

The NARS Orgasm Blush is one of the most iconic products in the brands collection. The shade Orgasm is known to be flattering to any type of skintone, so it’s no coincidence that the NARS Orgasm Blush is the number one selling blush in the US.

This Summer, the brand has launched the NARS Orgasm 2018 Collection, consisting of an Over-Sized Orgasm Blush, Illuminating Loose Powder, Afterglow Lip Balm and the Full Vinyl Lip Lacquer. In today’s post, I’m going to review and show you a selection of the NARS Orgasm 2018 Collection.

All the products of the NARS Orgasm 2018 Collection come in a beautiful, metallic rose-gold cardboard box. Only that little detail already makes me crave for the products!

Like NARS is known for, the Orgasm Blush (€39,00/8 gr) is held in a black, plastic compact with a matte finish and a velvet-y texture, which I have a love/hate relationship with. I love how it looks but it gets dirty really quickly. The compact has a good weight, feels sturdy and I’m absolutely obsessed with the rose-gold details, which I think is exclusive to the collections version.

Opening the compact reveals the Orgasm Blush and a mirror with #whatmakesyoublush written on the bottom of the mirror. The powder has the NARS logo stamped on the surface. Like I briefly mentioned before, this version of the Orgasm Blush is over-sized, which means you get 8 grams of product instead of the standard 4.8 grams.

The NARS Orgasm Blush is described as a Peachy Pink with Golden Shimmer. The powder feels soft and silky and applies very evenly. It has a nice pigmentation but it’s not too strong, which I prefer for blushes.

As a make-up enthusiast, I already had the NARS Orgasm Blush in my collection, so I swatched my old version on the right to compare to the one of the NARS Orgasm 2018 Collection on the left. I don’t notice a difference which is great, except that the new version might be a bit more pigmented, but that might also be because mine is already a few years older.

The NARS Orgasm Illuminating Loose Powder (€27,00/2.5 gr) is a new product, described as a silky, soft-lit loose powder with the classic Orgasm hue that blends effortlessly onto the skin with a glimmering finish. It is a versatile product that can b used to illuminate and accentuate the high points of the face and decollete.

The NARS Orgasm Illuminating Loose Powder comes in a jar with a sifter. The sifter can’t close so there is not a thing that keeps the bottom and upper part separated, which makes it not a really nice product to travel with. It’s nice that loose powders have a lot of versatility but I really dislike using these kinds of products because they usually make such a mess, but this powder is a bit “sticky” so fortunately, it doesn’t move a lot.

The NARS Orgasm Illuminating Loose Powder is absolutely stunning! It has a beautiful an intense metallic sheen but I do have my doubts if this product can be used as a highlighter for lighter skintones, because it looks quite dark. It might be okay over blush or used sparingly.

Since the NARS Orgasm Illuminating Loose Powder is a versatile product, I used it as an eyeshadow all over my eyelid and as an inner corner and browbone highlight, which looks friggin’ amazing!! It looks so flattering on my eyes, so much that I ever consider using this more often even though I’m not a fan of using loose powders.

The NARS Orgasm Afterglow Lip Balm (€27,00/3 gr) is another new product, described as a hydrating lip balm with a sheer color-payoff of the Orgasm shade, featuring the Monoï Hydrating Complex for a smooth, supple comfort, and is infused with a blend of anti-oxidants that help protect the lips.

The lip balm comes in a beautiful rose-gold tube with a shiny metallic finish. I secretly wish that the metallic finish was matte just like the cardboard packaging but I can’t complain because it still looks very luxurious!

As you can see from the swatch, the NARS Orgasm Afterglow Lip Balm is very sheer but I can definitely see the subtle color and golden shimmer. I do think it’s quite expensive for what you get but it is of course a high-end brand, which does include the amazing looking packaging.

The NARS Orgasm Afterglow Lip Balm is unscented, applies evenly and feels very soft and slippery on the lips. It leaves a very thin layer and doesn’t feel sticky at all. The product definitely feels nicely hydrating but since it’s a lip balm, it doesn’t stay on that long.

For the complete make-up look, I used the NARS Orgasm Blush on my cheeks, the Orgasm Illuminating Loose Powder on my eyes (more details at the Loose Powder section of this post) and as a highlight on top of my cheekbones, bridge of the nose and cupids bow and the .Orgasm Afterglow Lip Balm on my lips. You can definitely see that the blush and lip balm have the same color! For the loose powder, the golden glow of the Orgasm shade seems to have the upper hand compared the peachy pink hue, which is of course expected since it’s a highlighter type of product.

I’m absolutely thrilled about the NARS Orgasm 2018 Collection! I love everything, from the packaging to the products. The Orgasm shade is in my opinion, a beautiful color that can definitely be used for many different skintones and a must-have for a make-up collector.

If there’s one product to pick from the collection, it is hands-down the NARS Orgasm Illuminating Loose Powder, since the blush is permanent and the only difference is the over-sized packaging (which you pay more for) and the lip balm is in my opinion, expensive for what it is but if you’re a packaging/luxury hoarder like me, you probably want to get everything.
