NARS Cosmetics has finally launched on the De Bijenkorf website. Therefore, I’m going to review a few NARS products in the coming weeks, starting with the NARS Powermatte Lip Pigments. These are matte liquid lipsticks that are supposed to be lightweight, long-wearing and smudge-resistant, available in 20 different shades. I’ve received the shades Get it On, Get Up Stand Up, Don’t Stop and Wild Thing, which I’m going to show you down below.
The NARS Powermatte Lip Pigments come in a matte tube with the typical modern, black colored NARS packaging, containing 5.5 mL product in total. The top part spells out the brands name and feels velvet-y. The bottom part has a transparant window which shows you the product. I am a sucker for packaging like this and I’ve always been obsessed with NARS because of their modern but also timeless way of packaging. The tube looks very luxurious, has some weight and I’m absolutely obsessed by it.
Screwing off the top reveals a small, pointed doe foot applicator. It moves slightly when pressure is applied. The pointed tip helps to apply the liquid lipstick very precisely.
Here are swatches of the four NARS Powermatte Lip Pigments that I’ve received. The formula of all these shades are quite similar, feeling very thin, oily and runny. NARS actually describes it as putting an ink on the lips. I’m not sure that is only a positive thing. Looking at my swatches closely, especially Don’t Stop and Wild Night, you can see that the product bleeds on the texture of my skin. Can you imagine how much it would bleed on someone who has a lot of wrinkles around the lips? I would definitely suggest to use a lip liner if you have a tendency of lipsticks to bleed outside the borders of your lips. Thankfully, they are all pigmented and smell very delicious like Vanilla Bean. Due to the runny formula, it takes a bit more time compared to other liquid lipsticks to dry, I would say around 4-5 minutes.
NARS Powermatte Lip Pigment in Get It On
The NARS Powermatte Lip Pigment in Get It On is described as a Tan Rose shade. It is definitely a beautiful nude shade for me and I love that is has some warmth to it. It applies easy and evenly, one thin coat is enough for full opacity.
NARS Powermatte Lip Pigment in Get Up Stand Up
The NARS Powermatte Lip Pigment in Get Up Stand Up is described as a Bright Pink Coral shade. It is a very bright, girly and lovely shade. I’m definitely going to bring this shade with me when I’m on vacation. I think this shade would look great on any skin type, but especially on sun tanned skin during the Summer. This shade applied a tiny bit patchy but since the formula is so thin, it is easy to apply another layer without making it feel uncomfortable or heavy.
NARS Powermatte Lip Pigment in Don’t Stop
The NARS Powermatte Lip Pigment in Don’t Stop is described as a Geranium Red shade. I have a lot of matte red shades, but I think this one is my favorite of all of them. I’ve never seen a more perfect red shade than this one. It was also very easy to apply and was opaque after one applying one thin coat.
NARS Powermatte Lip Pigment in Wild Night
The NARS Powermatte Lip Pigment in Wild Night is described as a Deep Lilac shade. Beautiful bold shade for the Fall/Winter period. It’s very dark but still quite wearable (for me at least). Combine this with a basic eye look or a winged eyeliner and you’re good to go. This shade is a on the patchy side but is also easily fixed using two thin coats.
The formula of the NARS Powermatte Lip Pigments is one of my favorite formula’s for liquid lipsticks that I’ve tried so far, it’s probably in the top five. I don’t have problems with wrinkles around my lips myself, so bleeding is not a problem for me.
I like that the formula is thin and it does feel very lightweight but most importantly, not drying at all. The oily-ness even feels moisturizing during application and the scent is amazing. I also love that it doesn’t have an extremely matte finish so it doesn’t look like my lips are dried out. The formula isn’t transfer proof or completely smudge-proof but definitely smudge resistant. The lipstick lasts for about 6-8 hours on me, with touch-ups after eating. The lipsticks fade gradually starting from the inner rim of my lips, especially with Get It On but it doesn’t look bothersome.
The NARS Powermatte Lip Pigments are currently my favorite products from NARS that I’ve tried. They feel very comfortable and look amazing. I really want to try out all the colors available, because I’ve seen them and they’re as beautiful as these ones. My favorite of this bunch is Don’t Stop and a close runner-up, Get It On.
The NARS Powermatte Lip Pigments is available for €26,00 Euro at De Bijenkorf Amsterdam and Utrecht and on the DeBijenkorf.nl.
