NYC City Proof Matte Long Lasting BLUR Lip Color

NYC (New York Color) is an affordable, drugstore make-up brand that is takes its inspiration from the spontaneous and unexpected energy of the New York lifestyle. Since city life is always busy and hectic, a long lasting lipstick definitely a must. The NYC City Proof Matte Long Lasting BLUR Lip Color is a lipstick that provides a color in seconds and last for hours. This lipstick can also be blurred out to give an easy and quick ombré look. For this post, I’m going to show you four shades of the NYC City Proof Matte Long Lasting BLUR Lip Color lipsticks.

The NYC City Proof Matte Long Lasting BLUR Lip Color lipsticks that I’ve received are Nude York Style, Manhattan Mauve, Pink City and Riverside Ruby, which are four of the ten shades available. The product is dual-ended with one side containing the lipstick and the other side having a smudger tool. The color of the packaging is the same shade as the product itself.

The lipstick side of the NYC City Proof Matte Long Lasting BLUR Lip Color is protected by a twistable cap, which I really like because this will prevent the cap from randomly coming off in your bag. The lipstick itself is also twistable. I would say that it has the same shape as a lip pencil however, it is twice as wide, so it’s not really as thick as a chubby stick/lipstick but also not as thin as a lip pencil.

The picture above shows the product completely twisted up. There isn’t much product in there, only 1.15 grams in total. I think that an average lipstick (in a bullet) contains about 3 to 5 grams. It is also very sensitive to breaking off, I used the lipstick with a minimum of product sticking out like the other lipsticks in the picture, and I felt it breaking off on the inside, where as soon as I flipped the lipstick over, the product came out completely. It’s still usable, just pop the product back in but keep in mind to use the cap before using the smudger tool.

The other end of the NYC City Proof Matte Long Lasting BLUR Lip Color contains a smudger tool, which is made of a firm sponge material. With this tool, you can blur out the outer lines for a trendy, ombré effect. I’m not sure when these lipsticks were initially launched, but I’m quite sure that the ombré effect isn’t that trendy anymore, but it’s a cool effect nonetheless and you don’t need to use it if you don’t feel like it.

Here are the swatches of the four NYC City Proof Matte Long Lasting BLUR Lip Color lipsticks that I’ve received. As you can see, you can also use these perfectly by themselves without blurring. They are nicely opaque, smooth and apply evenly. I would say that they have a satin to matte finish. They all have a staining effect, which helps with the longevity of the product. My arm was stained for days after these swatches. The staining effect was (thankfully!) not that long on my lips but it was long-lasting, definitely for hours. They also have a delicious sweet bubblegum type of scent.

For all the lipswatches down below, I have used the smudges tool to blur out the lines as the product is recommended to be used.

NYC City Proof Matte Long Lasting BLUR Lip Color in Nude York Style

The NYC City Proof Matte Long Lasting BLUR Lip Color in Nude York Style is a pinky beige nude shade. This shade is almost the exact same as my own lip color, so the blurring effect is basically non-existent. I do love the shade though, it’s definitely my perfect nude shade.

NYC City Proof Matte Long Lasting BLUR Lip Color in Manhattan Mauve

The NYC City Proof Matte Long Lasting BLUR Lip Color in Manhattan Mauve is a pinky mauve nude shade. This shade is very similar to the previous shade but instead it has a very cute, pink undertone. I again can’t really see the ombré effect but that might be because of my own lip color being very pigmented on their own.

NYC City Proof Matte Long Lasting BLUR Lip Color in Pink City

The NYC City Proof Matte Long Lasting BLUR Lip Color in Pink City is a pink shade. With this shade you can definitely see the ombré effect. I really like this shade! On me, it’s a fun pop of color while still being muted.

NYC City Proof Matte Long Lasting BLUR Lip Color in Riverside Ruby

The NYC City Proof Matte Long Lasting BLUR Lip Color in Riverside Ruby is a Berry Pink shade. This shade is the brightest and has the most staining intensity of all the shades. The ombré effect is really beautiful with this shade.

The NYC City Proof Matte Long Lasting BLUR Lip Color shades are all very comfortable and are definitely long-lasting due to the staining effect, also after eating/drinking. I like the nude shades but I personally don’t see any use of them in combination with the ombré effect, but that might be because of my pigmented lips. So if you’re really looking for something with this type of effect, I would suggest to go for the darker/brighter shades.

The shades themselves aren’t that special, you can get shades like this for a better price since you don’t get much product in total. So I would say to only go for this product if you like ombré lips and/or lipsticks with a staining effect.  My favorite shade of the bunch is Riverside Ruby.
