NYX Professional Makeup Powder Puff Lippie Collection Review

NYX Professional Makeup introduces the Love You So Mochi Collection, inspired by the bouncy, soft and pillowy texture of the Japanese Mochi treat. I’ve already showed you the Love You So Mochi Palettes in this post and for today, I’m going review the NYX Professional Makeup Powder Puff Lippie Powder Lip Creams, which are lightweight, moussey lipsticks that set to a powdery-soft finish.

The NYX Professional Makeup Powder Puff Lippie Powder Lip Creams are a part of the Love You So Mochi collection, available in eight different shades. These products come in a cardboard box, showing the lipstick shade on the packaging in front, as well as lip swatches on the back.

The product is contained in a squeezable tube, holding 12 mL of product in total. Screwing of the cap reveals a soft and cushion-y, sponge applicator. I personally do not like this sort of applicator, because it is a bit too big for a nice precision. However, the NYX Professional Makeup Powder Puff Lippie Powder Lip Creams are means to have soft and feathered look, so I see why this applicator fits the theme.

The texture of the NYX Professional Makeup Powder Puff Lippie Powder Lip Creams is as described, mousse-y and has a subtle, sweet scent. I also immediately noticed that it felt silicone-y. I looked at the ingredients list and the first ingredient shown is Dimethicone, which is a type of silicone. This also explains why the product looks so soft and blurry. If you don’t like how Silicone feels, you probably won’t like this product. Even though it dries to a powdery, matte finish, it does smudge and transfer.

All the shades applied evenly during swatching and have a nice pigment, but are not fully opaque. The base color of your lips will really affect how this product will look like, also depending on how thick you apply the product. Since these products are meant to have a soft and diffused look, I only used a thin, even coat in the swatches below.

NYX Professional Makeup Powder Puff Lippie in Cool Intentions

The NYX Professional Makeup Powder Puff Lippie in Cool Intentions is described as a Light Brown shade with Pink Undetones. Because I have quite warm undertones, the lipstick looks a lot warmer on me.  I love to wear nude brown shades and this one is definitely beautiful.

NYX Professional Makeup Powder Puff Lippie in Puppy Love

The NYX Professional Makeup Powder Puff Lippie in Puppy Love is described as a Warm Medium Peach shade. I would describe this more as a Coral shade on me but either way, it is beautiful vibrant shade, perfect for the coming Spring season.

NYX Professional Makeup Powder Puff Lippie in Group Love

The NYX Professional Makeup Powder Puff Lippie in Group Love is described as a True Red shade. On me, this looks more like a Raspberry Red,  another beautiful vibrant shade which I consider to be perfect for Spring and Summer.

NYX Professional Makeup Powder Puff Lippie in Squad Goals

The NYX Professional Makeup Powder Puff Lippie in Squad Goals is described as a Tea Rose Pink shade. I was afraid that this shade would be too light for me while in fact, it is perfect! I think this is a beautiful every day shade which would probably also look amazing on lighter skin tones.

NYX Professional Makeup Powder Puff Lippie in Teenage Dream

The NYX Professional Makeup Powder Puff Lippie in Teenage Dream is described as a Hot Pink shade. This shade is so fun and girly! It’s the perfect going to party shade and also really beautiful during the Summer season.

NYX Professional Makeup Powder Puff Lippie in Pop Quiz

The NYX Professional Makeup Powder Puff Lippie in Pop Quiz is described as a Berry shade. I’m always a sucker for this kind of darker berry shades. I love that even though the formula isn’t fully opaque, the shade applies evenly, which is usually difficult with darker shades like this one.

NYX Professional Makeup Powder Puff Lippie in Moody

The NYX Professional Makeup Powder Puff Lippie in Moody is described as a Cool Toned Plum shade. Even though this is also a darker shade, I love how muted and soft it looks. It can also look really different, depending on how thick you apply this shade. It is much darker and bolder with another coat, but I really prefer the look when it is applied with only one, thin coat like I have done in the picture.

NYX Professional Makeup Powder Puff Lippie in Best Buds

The NYX Professional Makeup Powder Puff Lippie in Best Buds is described as a Cool Toned Plum shade. This is another really cute and uplifting everyday shade, similar to Squad Goals, only being a lot warmer in undertone.

I think all the shades of the NYX Professional Makeup Powder Puff Lippie Powder Lip Creams suit me and I think a reason for that is also because it isn’t fully opaque and fuses a bit with my natural lip shade.

The only weird thing is that my lips watches look so different like the swatches on the packaging. I have seen that a few other times before with this brand and I don’t know for this time, if it’s because they are applied fully opaque on the pictures of the packaging, or because of my skintone. They also look shiny on the packaging, which is weird since the brand promotes the product as it having a powdery-soft finish. I would definitely suggest to swatch them in store if you’re interested in buying them.

If you haven’t noticed already, my lips are extremely dry because of the cold winter weather. The silicone texture makes my lips look less wrinkly and feelt moisturizing during the initial application, but does feel drying over time, which makes it feel uncomfortable. You can also see the grainy texture in the close-up pictures, but I have to say that this isn’t really noticeable in real life. The longevity is between a regular lipstick and a liquid lipstick, it stays on well but does definitely need some re-application after eating and/or drinking.

I do love the shade range of the NYX Professional Makeup Powder Puff Lippie Powder Lip Creams. Each of them look really beautiful and are easy to apply. I’m only not so fond of the drying feeling over time but seriously, everything feels too drying with this cold weather so it might just feel fine in other weather conditions. It’s really difficult to pick a favorite between the shades but I think that if I had to choose, it would pick the shades Puppy Love and Moody.

The  NYX Professional Makeup Powder Puff Lippie Powder Lip Creams are currently only available at the NYX Professional Makeup Stores in Amsterdam and Rotterdam for €9,40 Euro each, but will be available soon at Douglas.nl and Douglas stores.
