The brand NYX has a lipstick collection called Soft Matte Lip Cream. These lipsticks are a hybrid between a lipstick and a liquid lipstick. There many colors to choose from, all named after big cities like Amsterdam, Tokyo and London. For this post, I’m going to review the NYX Stockholm Soft Matte Lip Cream.
The NYX Stockholm Soft Matte Lip Cream comes in a non-transparent tube that has the same shade as the lipstick. I’m personally not so fond op packaging like this, because you can’t see how much product there’s left and can be misleading because it might be possible that the colors are a bit off compared to the product. The handle looks velvet black, which I like but can get dirty very quickly. The wand has a doe foot applicator and very stiff. It doesn’t look like a separate part but almost seems like they just put a bit of fluff at the end of the wand so the quality isn’t very amazing.
Here’s a swatch of the NYX Stockholm Soft Matte Lip Cream. It is opaque and glides smells really amazing like cake batter, which is only noticable during application. I really think that “Soft Matte Lip Cream is a perfect way to describe the formula of this lipstick. As you can see from the swatch, the lipstick looks much softer than the a matte formula of a liquid lipstick and also not creamy as a lipstick.
The NYX Stockholm Soft Matte Lip Cream has a mid-tone beige pink shade. I’m seriously obsessed with this shade. It looks so natural and fresh. I think this would make a perfect every day shade for me. The lipstick does look a bit grainy on my lips but is only noticeable up close. The lipstick feels very creamy and comfortable at first and becomes more matte over time, which also makes it feel a bit more drying, but not as drying as a liquid lipstick. The lipstick isn’t smudge proof, but does stay on better as a lipstick, but not as long as a liquid lipstick. You will definitely need to touch up after eating and/or drinking.
I really like the NYX Stockholm Soft Matte Lip Cream. Even though the packaging and applicator isn’t as what I would prefer, the product itself is great. Also, I kind of prefer a finish like this sometimes, because it also doesn’t make my lips look very wrinkly like some liquid lipsticks can do. I think this would be a great alternative for someone who just can’t handle the dryness of a liquid lipstick. And another bonus about this lipstick, is that it’s affordable and comes in a huge range of shades. The quality can of course differ depending on the shade, but this definitely made me curious and I will certainly look into more shades.
The NYX Stockholm Soft Matte Lip Cream is available for €7,50 Euro at Douglas.nl. THere are currently 16 shades available on the website. Let me know if you’re interested in a review of a certain shade!
