The Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani collaboration is continuing this year, now with a Blush palette, Brow palette, Lipsticks and Lip Pencils. The Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani Eyeshadow Palette which was released during the holidays, also contained a Lipstick sample card, giving a sneak peek of four shades for the coming Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani Lipsticks collection. I’m going to show you swatches of these four shades.
The sample card contains four shades of the upcoming Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani Lipsticks. They come in three different finishes; cream, mega matte and Sheer. The four shades are called Rock Steady (cream), 714 (mega matte), Ex-Girlfriend (sheer) and Firebird (cream). There is no brush added in this sample card so I used my Real Techniques Lip Brush for the swatches.
All the Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani Lipsticks that will become available are displayed on the back of the sample card. There will be eight shades in total, so you can already try half of the lipstick shades if you have purchased the Eyeshadow palette! Two of the shades, Phone call and Plaid are only available through Urban Decay.com and Urban Decay freestanding stores.
Here are the swatches from left to right: Rock Steady (cream), 714 (mega matte), Ex-Girlfriend (sheer) and Firebird (cream). You can clearly see the different type of finishes from the swatches. There is no particular scent in these lipsticks.
Urban Decay – Rock Steady Lipstick
Urban Decay – Rock Steady is a deep wine red lipstick with a cream finish. I think blue-toned reds are one of the most beautiful lipstick shades around. It looks classic and makes your teeth look more white. The lipstick is very pigmented, feels creamy and comfortable. I haven’t worn lipsticks like these in a long time. The cream finish is a type of lipstick that will bleed on me over time unless I use a Lip Pencil. You will definitely need to be careful with this lipstick when eating or drinking.
Urban Decay – 714 Lipstick
Urban Decay – 714 is a classic red lipstick with a mega matte finish. This is a new type of finish for Urban Decay, and I really love it. It isn’t as matte as a liquid lipstick. I would say that this is somewhere in between the MAC matte/retro matte finish. It is highly pigmented, easy to apply and doesn’t feel drying. It isn’t smudge-proof but it doesn’t bleed over time on my lips. It will survive a drink and/or a non-greasy meal if you’re careful.
Urban Decay – Ex-Girlfriend Lipstick
Urban Decay – Ex-Girlfriend is a nude lipstick with a sheer finish. I think that this is a type of shade that Gwen is wearing lately instead of her signature red lip. It is sheer but still makes my lips look more even toned, shiny and healthy. A lipstick like this doesn’t wear for a long period so you have to re-apply often. The upside is that this shade fades well since it is so sheer and nude, you can easily eat/drink without worrying that your lips will look like a mess.
Urban Decay – Firebird Lipstick
Urban Decay – Firebird is a Fushia Pink lipstick with a cream finish. It isn’t as pigmented compared to Rock Steady, but it does have something very special because this shade has a subtle blue shimmer. It is something extra that makes this lipstick unique and super girly. Like I’ve mentioned before, the cream finish is a type of lipstick that will bleed on me over time and will smear if you’re not careful eating and/or drinking.
I like the variety Urban Decay offers in shades and finishes for the Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani Lipsticks, but I kind of wished that there were more mega matte shades, 714 is the only one in the collection that has that type of finish. I’m thinking of purchasing a full-sized lipstick of that shade.
The Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani Lipsticks will be available somewhere around the 2nd or 3rd week of February for €24,70 Euro at Iciparisxl.nl and the Ici Paris XL stores in Amsterdan, Rotterdam and The Hague.
