Smashbox Always On Liquid Lipstick Review

The Smashbox Always On Liquid Lipsticks are long-wear, water-resistent liquid lipsticks that features an Advanced Polymer Technology, which according to the brand, supposed to look fresh and flawless, with a smudge-proof, budge-proof and non-feathering formula that lasts for up to eight hours. I was able to borrow a few of these liquid lipsticks from a friend so for today, I’m going to review three different Violet Smashbox Always On Liquid Lipstick shades, which are currently on trend since the color Ultra-Violet is chosen as the Pantone color of the Year 2018.

The Smashbox Always On Liquid Lipsticks come in a black, cardboard packaging with white details. It also shows a swatch that has the same color as the actual product.

The Smashbox Always On Liquid Lipstick tubes are made of plastic with a rectangular shape, holding 4 mL of product each. The bottom part is completely transparent so you can easily see how much product is available. I like like the packaging, it looks nice and modern and feels sturdy.

The wand is quite short, which I like because I think a shorter wand makes applying the product more easier. The doe foot applicator has a a slated tip for a precise application. It also has a dent in the middle to hold more product for a full coverage application in one go.

The Smashbox Always On Liquid Lipsticks swatch beautifully! They are very pigmented and fully opaque in one swipe. The formula is unscented, quite thick and dries to a complete, flat matte finish. After drying for a minute or two, the lipsticks do not move or transfer at all.

Smashbox Always On Liquid Lipstick in Purple Taffy is described as a Pastel Purple shade. Light shades that contain a lot of white pigment tend to look really flat and chalky and makes my lips look extremely wrinkly. It might look better combined with another shade as an ombre.  I do think this shade would look bomb on someone with a deep skintone with full, non-wrinkly lips or someone with a very pale skin but for me, it unfortunately doesn’t do anything flattering.

Smashbox Always On Liquid Lipstick in Some Nerve is described as a Vibrant Purple shade. I love this shade so much! It looks so bright and bold. It’s a unique shade that might be too bold for the average crowd but I think many make-up lovers would love this shade and would probably look flattering on any type of skin tone.

Smashbox Always On Liquid Lipstick in Ultra-Violet

Smashbox Always On Liquid Lipstick in Ultra-Violet is described as a Bright Purple shade. This shade almost looks blue but it really leans to the purple side. Like I mentioned, this shade matches the Pantone Color of 2018, which also has the same name. I really like it! This is probably not considered as a very wearable shade to most but I do think it really looks beautifully flattering on me and I would definitely sport this look any time.

The Smashbox Always On Liquid Lipsticks in Purple Taffy, Some Nerve and Ultra Violet are absolutely unique and bold shades! I really like them for it. It’s something different than what you normally see but the lipsticks are of course available in more regular shade as well. My favorite from these three is Some Nerve, followed closely by Ultra-Violet.

I only wore Ultra-Violet for a few hours but I do think that the formula is similar to all the shades mentioned. Since the formula is quite creamy and thick, you can notice the lipstick sitting on your lips when wearing them, feeling normal but slightly drying over time. I had no problems wearing these for a longer period. The lipsticks are very long wearing because they’re completely smudge and transfer proof but fade a bit in the middle after eating and/or drinking, but re-touching didn’t give any problems.

The Smashbox Always On Liquid Lipsticks come in many different shades, from nude to bold with matte to metallic finishes. These three shades definitely made me curious to check out what else is available!
