The Power of Make-up

The extremely talented and beautiful Nikkie from Nikkietutorials has recently posted a video on the power of make-up. In this video, she talks about the “Taboo” of wearing make-up, and shows you how fun make-up can be by showing a half-face transformation using make-up. To follow the footsteps of Nikkie, I’m writing this blogpost to give my opinion on the topic of wearing make-up and the reasons why I wear it.

“You look so much prettier without make-up”. “Why do you wear so much make-up, you don’t need it!”. “You are beautiful with and without make-up!”. These are examples of things that I hear daily. People often think that I wear a lot of make-up because I’m insecure about myself, that I won’t go out of the house without make-up because I don’t like my “normal” face. I know I look perfectly fine and dandy without make-up, STOP telling me that because I’m sick and tired of hearing it. Do you want know the true reason why I wear make-up? Because I LOVE make-up and I don’t give a single f*** what anybody thinks of it. Make-up is so much fun, because you can transform your whole face into a piece of art every single day. Want to know how you look with bigger lips? Get a lip pencil and BOOOM instant lip injections! Want to look like you have been on a holiday at the Bahama’s? Put some bronzer on your face and it looks like you have been baking under the sun for weeks! Want to look like a Unicorn has barfed all over your face? Get those rainbow coloured eyeshadows and glitter pigments and fly away!

I think it’s so much fun to experiment with make-up. Every time when a new make-up product arrives, I’m so very eager to try it out to see what kind of fun looks I can create. A lot of times when I’m experimenting, my boyfriend doesn’t even like the way I look at all, and I actually don’t care because I’m doing it because I like it. It is a way of expressing who I am, just like having a certain style of clothing or hair.

Of course I’m not saying that this is the reason why everyone wears make-up, this is just my reason. Never be ashamed of wearing make-up. If you’re afraid of make-up and trying new things, please don’t! At the end of the day, the make-up washes off so you can start a whole new adventure the next day. Look into tutorials and just try if it works out for you. Practice makes perfect! here is no wrong in make-up, just do what you feel like suits you best.

Let me know what you think about make-up and why you wear it in the comments below!

Cheers,

Lariesa
