TheBalm has released a Limited Edition Meet Matte Hughes Mini Liquid Lipstick Set, featuring six of their top-selling shades. I haven’t reviewed their liquid lipsticks before however, I already owned one of the shades and I really like the formula. Therefore, I’m happy to show you this amazing value set today.
The TheBalm Meet Matte Hughes Mini Liquid Lipstick Set consists of six shades, Charming, Sincere, Committed, Doting, Dedicated and Loyal. Like all TheBalm products, this set comes in very cute 50’s type of retro packaging. This set would really be perfect as a gift, since it is already a joy to look at. Also, all the shades in this set look really wearable for most people and is a great introduction to their brand.
The TheBalm Meet Matte Hughes Mini Liquid Lipstick tubes are transparent and have silver details. The name of the shades are also displayed on the tube.
This is one of the mini’s compared the a fullsized TheBalm Meet Matte Hughes. The mini contains 1.2 mL of product, the fullsize contains 7.4 mL.
Even though the mini version is really tiny compared to the fullsized product, the wands are very similar. I think that the doe foot applicator has about the same fluffiness and the same size. The only noticable difference is that the wand is shorter.
Here are the swatches of the lipsticks in the TheBalm Meet Matte Hughes Mini Liquid Lipstick Set from left to right: Charming, Sincere, Committed, Doting, Dedicated and Loyal. All lipsticks are very pigmented and opaque. The formula feels creamy but still thin without being runny. They dry about the same, I would say 3 minutes on my lips to really become transfer-proof. You do have to like strong scents with this liquid lipstick, because this is one of the strongest scents I’ve smelled with in a lipstick. The scent smells like a minty cake batter, very vanilla-like and minty. The scent lingers even after it has fully dried, and also has a subtle minty tingly feel. These sensation do disappear over time. I really like the smell though because I love strong scents.
TheBalm Meet Matte Hughes in Charming
TheBalm Meet Matte Hughes in Charming is a rosy mauve shade. This is also my favorite shade of this set because I’m a sucker for mauve. The shade applies perfectly on my lips and can easily last through a drink and/or meal when it’s not too greasy. It is also very easy to touch up. The lipstick is very comfortable and lasts for 6-8 hours on me.
TheBalm Meet Matte Hughes in Sincere
TheBalm Meet Matte Hughes in Sincere is a dusty rose shade. This is a beautiful every-day shade. Since it’s a lighter shade, it looks a bit more dry but it doesn’t feel that way and is as comfortable as Charming. Again, this is another shade that lasts and easy to touch up.
TheBalm Meet Matte Hughes in Committed
TheBalm Meet Matte Hughes in Committed is a soft light pink shade. This is the lightest lipstick of the set and is barely wearable for me. If it was lighter, it would probably look horrible on me but this is just right. I really love how it looks. Since this is a lighter shade like Sincere, it looks a bit more dry and make my lips look a bit more wrinkly, but still feels comfortable. The only problem is that the inner rim of my lips break down more quickly, which is a very common problem for light lipstick shades, so checking an re-applying frequently is a must. I would say every 2 hours or so and espacially after a meal.
TheBalm Meet Matte Hughes in Doting
TheBalm Meet Matte Hughes in Doting is a light coral shade. This is another very light lipstick (at least for me). Another shade that is on the edge of wearable for my skin tone and still looks great. This shade is very comparable to Committed when it comes to wearability. Also with this shade, you have to pay attention the the inner rim of your lips and re-apply when needed, which doesn’t give any problems.
TheBalm Meet Matte Hughes in Dedicated
TheBalm Meet Matte Hughes in Dedicated is a raspberry shade. This is my second favorite shade of the set. I think a shade like this will suit many different skintones. It is such a rich and beautiful shade, looks amazing on the lips and feels comfortable. This shade is very comparable to Charming in wearability.
TheBalm Meet Matte Hughes in Loyal
TheBalm Meet Matte Hughes in Loyal is a red shade with a blue undertone. I’m always in for a good red lipstick. This one is amazing. It is so easy to apply and looks very rich and beautiful. I would definitely recommend this shade if you’re looking for a perfect red liquid lipstick. This is another shade that is very easy to work with and lasts all day, comparable to Charming and Dedicated.
I think the TheBalm Meet Matte Hughes Mini Liquid Lipstick Set is one of the best liquid lipstick sets ever. All the shades perform very beautifully without any problems with patchiness. These shades are all so wearable with the amazing formula of the TheBalm liquid lipsticks. I have to say that this set will probably be not suitable for deeper skintones due to the lighter shades, but if you’re fair to medium, this set is definitely worth to check out.
Have you ever tried TheBalm Liquid Lipsticks? Which shade is your favorite?
