Too Faced The Power of Makeup by Nikkietutorials Collection

Too Faced The Power of Makeup by Nikkietutorials

The brand Too Faced has collaborated with the amazingly talented Nikkietutorials to create the “The Power of Makeup” collection. If you don’t know Nikkie (which I highly doubt), she is a Dutch make-up artist on YouTube and has been posting make-up tutorials for many years. The video where the palette is named after, has been watched over 31 million times and made her popularity skyrocket.  I’ve been subscribed to her channel for many years and as a fellow Dutchie, am so proud to see how much she’s grown and to launch her very first palette.  I of course am going to show you all the details about the Too Faced The Power of Makeup by Nikkietutorials collection in this post.

The Too Faced The Power of Makeup by Nikkietutorials collection comes in a very cute pink, black and metallic gold leopard print box. The box does not only contain the palette but comes with several other Too Faced products, with one of the products being exclusive to this collection. All the products that are included together with the description of the ingredients are on the back of the box.

The Too Faced The Power of Makeup by Nikkietutorials Palette is made of good quality cardboard has the same leopard print artwork as on the box. The palette has a cute explanation about the collab on the back in both English and French. The palette is thin and compact , I would say about the size and thickness of an e-book reader and smaller than an A5 paper so it’s also a good size to travel with.

The palette has a magnetic closure and has the products on one side and the same Too Faced The Power of Makeup by Nikkietutorials logo like on the front with a bright pink background. There is no mirror in this palette, which is fine by me because it makes it more lightweight for traveling. You can also completely flip the left side to the back and hold the palette easily with one hand.

The Too Faced The Power of Makeup by Nikkietutorials contains nine eyeshadows on top, two blushes in the middle, and bronzer and highlighter on the bottom. Each product has a different size, with the eyeshadows in a small rectangular pan (1.3 g), the blushes in a heart-shaped pan (2.0 g) and the bronzer and highlighter in a bigger rectangular pan (3 g). I don’t know if all the products have a scent but you can immediately smell the vanilla chocolate scent when you have the palette close up to your face. I really love the scent, it’s not too overpowering and smells natural.

The other item in the box is a bag which has a zip-lock closure and the same artwork as on the box and palette. The bag contains a deluxe size Glamour Dust Glitter Pigment in Glitterally (1g), a full size Sketch Marker Eyeliner in Black (0.45 mL), a deluxe Shadow Insurance Eyeshadow Primer (5 g) and an exclusive deluxe size Better Than Sex Mascara in Purple (4.8g). You also get a guide which shows how to create three easy looks step-by-step by Nikkie herself.

Here are all the swatches of the eyeshadows. I was already familiar with the Too Faced eyeshadow formula and I’m a big fan. They feel very soft and are nicely pigmented and easy to blend. Of course some shadows perform better than others, but are overall of good quality. Here’s a description of all the shades with some extra info that Nikkie explains in this video:

Ivy – a light cream shade with a matte finish.  This shade is named after her dog and is the perfect all over shade for fair skin tones like hers.
Sugar Coated – A light baby pink shade with a shimmery metallic finish. Nikkie loves pink and wanted something glamorous and luxurious feel to it. It is also beautiful as highlight for fair skintones.
Frosted Yum and Irresistible – A true silver and  rich gold shade with a shimmery metallic finish. Nikkie wanted to have create a versatile palette for traveling thus included a silver and gold shade for some extra glam and also perfect for the holidays.
Painkiller –  A medium brown shade with a matte finish. She wanted to create the perfect mid-brown transition shade which doesn’t have any patchiness and is easy to use without any thinking, hence the name.
Makeup & Chill – A warm dark brown shade with a matte finish. Nikkie loves warm dark brown shades and describes the shade the same as she did with Painkiller, an no-fuss, easy to use shade.
Mystic Hour – Deep Teal Blue/Green shade with a metallic finish. This shade was actually suggested by her boyfriend Rick, since he thought that a shade like this would compliment the palette. It’s unique and easy to work with.
Wham Bam   A bright purple shade with a metallic finish. Nikkie loves her purples and the shade is inspired by a straw when she saw the owner of Too Faced, Jerrod drinking his coffee from a bright purple straw. She wanted to have the eyeshadow in the exact same shade.
Wanted – A deep dark black shade with a matte finish. Nikkie felt that a complete versatile palette should also have a black shade, which should be easy to blend and work with.

Here are the swatches of the other products that are in the palette and collection. Most of the products were already present and either available separately or in other products of Too Faced.  Again, I have a description of all the products extra info that Nikkie has explained in this video:

I Will Always Love You and Justify My Love Blushes – a gilded peach blush with a matte finish and a bright, matte pink blush fine gold sparkle. Nikkie chose her favorite Too Faced blushes to be included in this palette, so can you can also get these blushes separately.
Chocolate Soleil Bronzer – She wanted to include a matte, versatile bronzer that compliments many different skintones. This bronzer is also available seperately.
Champagne Truffle Highlighter – This light champagne highlighter was originally an eyeshadow in the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette, but since Nikkie has often used this shade as a highlighter, she wanted to include this eyeshadow as a highlighter in her palette. So you can also use this for both!
Glamour Dust in Glitterally on top of the Too Faced Shadow Insurance Eyeshadow Primer – The eyeshadow primer is perfect to keep your eyeshadow look on all day and you can also use it as a base for the Glitterally Glitter. Nikkie named this glitter like this because she Dutch and always pronounced glitter wrong and instead pronounced it as Glitterally. This glitter is silver toned glitter with burnt orange, gold, green and purple reflects. It isn’t described anywhere that this glitter is exclusive but I don’t think it’s available anywhere else, so there might be a surprise in the future with this glitter?
Sketch Marker Liner in Black – Nikkie loves eyeliner and really loves this liner so she needed to include one in this collection.
Better Than Sex Mascara in Purple – Better Than Sex Mascara is Nikkies favorite Too Faced Mascara and since purple is her favorite color, she wanted to have an purple mascara which is exclusive to this collection.

I’ve created this double cut-crease eyelook using Ivy (all over shade, browbone highlighter and in between the crease), Painkiller (transition shade for top and bottom eyelid), Makeup & Chill (upper crease), Irresistible (inner 2/3rds of the upper lid), Wanted (outer 3rd and outer V), Mystic Hour (bottom lashline), Frosted Yum (inner 3rd of bottom eyelid) Glitterally (inner corner) and the Better Than Sex Mascara in Purple (bottom lashes). I of course used the Too Faced Shadow Insurance Eyeshadow Primer as a base.

For the rest of my face, I used the Chocolate Soleil Bronzer, the Champagne Truffel Highlighter and the I Will Always Love You Blush. To make this  make-up look all about Too Faced, I also decided to use my Too Faced Born This Way Foundation in Sand (review here), Born This Way Concealer in Light and the Melted Matte Liquid Lipstick in Sell Out.

I have to be super honest with you, I didn’t think I would like this palette due to the huge variety of shades. I’m a natural, bronzy brown/gold person when it comes to eyeshadow and I was so afraid that I would not be able to use most of the shades. Well, I was completely wrong. I used 7 of the 9 shades for this look and I’m obsessed. I am really amazed in what I was able to create and how easy this was using these shades. They are very complimentary to each other and easily blendable. Like I’ve mentioned before, she also has a manual on how to create some easy looks. I am definitely going to try those. I’m now certain that I can use these shades easily and will also be trying out the other two shades that I didn’t use. I’m so happy that this palette made me do something creative and made me play and experiment with make-up again.

As for the other products, these are Too Faced products in the permanent range and I have been a fan for years, the quality of their products are amazing. The Sketch eyeliner is extremely black, easy to use and pigmented. The bronzer and blush blend very easily and Champagne Truffle works great as a highlighter. I think Too Faced and Nikkie has done an amazing job with this collection. With all of the products, you can really create a huge variety of looks and the size makes the palette easy to travel with. I’m really happy to add this to my collection and will definitely use the palette and the other products in the future.

I have purchased my  Too Faced The Power of Makeup by Nikkietutorials through Sephora.com for $56 USD (excluding shipping to the Netherlands and possible extra customs taxes, check Xe.com for the current price in Euro) but is currently sold out. I don’t think (but I’m not sure) that they will restock on there, but it is currently available at Toofaced.com if you have Shipito for shipping to The Netherlands.

You can also wait until it’s available on September 1st on Sephora.fr (and the rest of the European Sephora stores). Only the price in USD is known, so I have no idea how much this will cost in Euro. Comparing the prices of other Too Faced products, I think this will probably be around €50 Euro. You don’t have to pay any customs taxes but you do have to pay shipping

Are you planning to get this collection or have you already purchased it?

Cheers
