She’s back! After the successful collaboration in 2016, OPI has launched another Hello Kitty Collection, now for Holiday 2019. In celebration of Hello Kitty’s 45th anniversary, this collection is full of festive and sparkling shades that can be worn all season long. I’m going to review and swatch the entire OPI Hello Kitty 2019 Collection in today’s post.
There are twelve shades in the OPI Hello Kitty 2019 Collection, available in the Infinite Shine version, which are best used in combination with the Infinite Shine Base and Top Coat (review here). Per usual, each bottle contains 15 mL of product. This collection consists of variety of shades and finishes, including glitters which can be combines with the other creme shades.
I currently have hard gel extension nails. For the swatches below, I’ve used a peel-off base before applying the nail polish to make swatching twelve shades in one day a bit easier. No top coat has been applied to show you the finish of the nail polishes on their own.
OPI Let’s be Friends!
OPI Let’s be Friends! is described as a Cotton Candy Pink shade with a Creme finish. This shade was originally released during the first OPI x Hello Kitty collection in 2016. It was such a popular shade that they’ve re-launched the shade for this collection and I can see why. I love off-white shades but the formula is usually really difficult to work with, this one however, is perfect. The formula is thin, looks streaky at first but applies evenly in the second coat. I’ve used two coats in the swatch above
OPI A Hush of Blush
OPI A Hush of Blush is a Pastel Lilac shade with a Frosty Shimmer finish. The formula is thin and applies evenly. I’ve used three coats in the swatch above.
OPI Let Love Sparkle
OPI Let Love Sparkle is described as a Blue-ish Silver White shade with a Frosty finish. The texture of this nailpolish is interesting, it has small silver and blue glitter scattered throughout the nailpolish and it seems like the finish is somewhat bumpy and satin-y, which can be fixed using a top coat. The formula is slightly thicker, but still runny and applies evenly in three coats.
OPI Many Celebrations to Go!
OPI Many Celebrations to Go! is described as a Champagne Frost shade with a Shimmery Metallic finish. The formula is like the previous shade, slightly thicker but still runny and applies evenly. I’ve used three coats in the swatch above. I also love wearing this shade semi-sheer using one coat.
OPI All About the Bows
OPI All About the Bows is described as a Deep Cranberry Red shade with a Creme finish. The formula is thin and applies evenly. I used two coats in the swatch above, but you can get away with one coat if you have short nails.
OPI A Kiss on the Chic
OPI A Kiss on the Chic is described as a Rich Burgundy shade with a Creme finish. The formula is very similar to the previous shade, thin and a one-coater if you have short nails. I’ve used two coats in the swatch above.
OPI Hello Pretty
OPI Hello Pretty is described as a Dark Purple Navy shade with a Creme finish. The formula is thin and applies evenly. I used two coats in the swatch above for full opacity.
OPI My Favorite Gal Pal
OPI My Favorite Gal Pal described as a Classic Dark Blue shade with a Creme finish. The formula is thin almost looks like a jelly, already looking even on the first coat and is very glossy. I’ve used two coats in the swatch above.
OPI Isn’t She Iconic!
OPI Isn’t She Iconic! is a Gunmetal Grey shade with a Shimmery Metallic finish. The formula is thin and applies evenly. I used two coats in the swatch above for full opacity.
OPI Let’s Celebrate!
OPI Let’s Celebrate! contains pink and iridescent glitters in a transparent pink base. Even using the sponging method, I cannot build this shade up to full opacity. This is more of a glitter topper, but it can be worn sheer on it’s own. The formula is thicker but is still runny and applies evenly. I’ve applied one coat on my pointer finger and two coats on my middle finger. Using the shade All About the Bows as a base, I applied one coat on my right finger and two on my pink finger.
OPI Pile on the Sprinkles
OPI Pile on the Sprinkles contains purple and iridescent glitters in a transparent purple base. Like the previous shade, I cannot build this shade up to full opacity. A glitter topper that can be worn sheer on it’s own. The formula is thicker but is still runny and applies evenly. I’ve applied one coat on my pointer finger and two coats on my middle finger. Using the shade Hello Pretty as a base, I applied one coat on my right finger and two on my pink finger.
OPI Glitter to My Heart
OPI Glitter to My Heart contains White and Silver glitters in a clear. This shade is definitely meant as a topper. As seen in the swatces above, you can use this alone but I personally prefer one coat on top of another color. The formula is thicker but is still runny and applies evenly. I’ve applied one coat on my pointer finger and two coats on my middle finger. Using My Favorite Gal Pal as a base, I applied one coat on my right finger and two on my pink finger.
I think the OPI Hello Kitty 2019 Collection looks very cute and festive. Not all shades scream Hello Kitty to me but they do look fun and perfect for a celebration. Even though I’m personally not a fan of Frosty finishes, I like that there are a lot of other finishes than cremes inside this collection.
The quality of all the shades is great, they’re all easy to apply evenly and dry fairly quickly to the touch. I can easily finish the first coat on my ten nails and immediately apply the second. You still have to of course watch out to not accidentally hit or rub the nails on something until it completely cures. The Infinite Shine formula wears very well on my nails (review here).
My favorite shades of the collection are Let’s Be Friends!, Pile on the Sprinkles and Glitter to my Heart.
