Spring is in full bloom and it’s always the perfect time for beautiful pastel shades. OPI has released the beautiful Softshades 2016 collection, which contains six pastel shaded nail polishes. This collection also has a miniature set, the OPI Softshades Pastels. Pastels are definitely my favorite nail polish shades so I’m excited to show you swatches of the OPI Softshades Pastels mini nail lacquers.
The shades in the mini nail lacquer set are It’s in the Cloud, Stop it I’m Blushing, It’s a Boy! and This Cost Me a Mint. Each bottle contains 3.75 mL of product, a fullsize bottle contains 15 mL of product. I was a huge nail polish hoarder, I own(ed) about 500+ nail polishes and have an IKEA Alex cabinet full of them, so these miniature sets are perfect because I like to vary a lot. The shades of the OPI Softshades 2016 collection that are not in this set are One Chic Chick (pastel yellow) and I Am What I Amethyst (pastel lavender).
OPI – It’s in the Cloud
It’s in the Cloud is a creamy white pastel shade. My bottle unfortunately came in broken and the polish was very thick but I was still able to do swatches. I had to use a top coat to even everything out. I traded my set afterwards and tried this shade again. The polish is very thin and patchy. I needed three coats to even everything out.
OPI – Stop it I’m Blushing!
Stop it I’m Blushing! is a dusty pink pastel shade. This polish is also very thin and patchy and needed three coats to even everything out.
OPI – It’s a Boy!
It’s a Boy! is a baby blue pastel shade. This is another shade that is very thin and streaky. It was slightly more difficult to even out but it might be my application, because I tried to do everything quickly and gave it less drying time. I also needed three coats for this shade.
OPI – This Cost Me a Mint
This Cost Me a Mint is a green pastel shade. It has the same formula as the rest, thin, streaky and needed three coats for full opacity.
Unfortunately, the formula pastel shaded polishes are always very difficult. They’re either too thin or too thick, very streaky and patchy. Even though the shades in the OPI Softshades Pastels set are super gorgeous, they are no different. You will definitely need three THIN!! coats for full opacity and to even everything out. The positive thing about that is that the polish dries very quickly, I could easily start applying the next coat after doing all my nails. I find it difficult to judge the longevity of nail polishes, because my nails are very oily, thin and damaged. Nail polishes usually chip the same day of application on me, but it really is dependent how you’re daily life is and what the status is of your nails.
My favorite shade is It’s a Boy! but I’m a huge sucker for pastel shades so I kind of really like all of the shades, definitely check them out if you’re a fan of pastel shades like me. The OPI Softshades Pastels mini nail lacquers set is available for € 22,95 Euro at Douglas.nl and the Douglas stores.

Just like you, I’m also a sucker for pastel shades.
Beautiful swatches. Can you tell me what stamping polish you used on the designs above? Thanks!

Thank you Marilynn! They should be from the Dashica Big SdP stamping plates, although I’m not 100% sure. These are my favorite plates!
