I love using facial masks. There are so many different types like clay masks, sheet masks or masks made from fresh ingredients. There’s another type of masks that I was always curious about, the peel-off mask. Montagne Jeunesse, a popular facial mask brand also has several peel-off masks available. I’m going to review the Montagne Jeunesse Cucumber Peel-off Mask.
The Montagne Jeunesse Cucumber Peel-off Mask is recommended for normal to oily skin and supposed to purify the skin, remove impurities and dead cells whilst cleansing and reviving the skin. It has a sticky, gel-like consistency with a green tinge. Like mentioned before, it is sticky but still runny so it’s easy to distribute.
It is very easy to place a thin layer on my whole face. I used about half of the pack so you can also choose to use the mask twice. Be sure to store the pack upwards because it might run out of the packaging. The mask feels very fresh and smooth. I feel a subtle tingling sensation on my skin but it doesn’t feel like it’s burning at all. The odor smells fresh and subtle of cucumber. I also have a small bit of product on my eyebrows and hair.
As it dries, I can feel the mask tightening on my skin. Depending on how thick the layer is, the mask completely hardens in about 15-20 minutes. It is a bit more difficult to move my face after it has dried since it’s stuck on the skin, but it doesn’t have any fall-out like clay masks. The mask is completely shiny like plastic after drying.
I was always a bit afraid of peel-off masks. I’ve heard and seen horror story’s of the black peel-off masks where more than dead-skin cells and facial hair was peeled off. Fortunately, this mask is very easy to peel off. You just grab the mask on the edge and pull softly. It does not hurt at all.
I was able to pull the whole mask off in one go. There were still some small bits stuck on some parts like my eyebrows but they were very easy to remove with warm water and a damp cloth. I can see that the mask has pulled dead skin cells and leftover make-up. My skin feels soft and smooth. The subtle fresh cucumber odor still lingers on my face. My skin does not feel irritated afterwards. I don’t have a sensitive skin so I would definitely suggest to try this on a small part of your skin first if you have.
I really like this mask. It is easy and fun to use without making a mess. The Montagne Jeunesse Cucumber Peel-off Mask is available for €1.79 Euro at Kruidvat. They also have the lovely Montagne Jeunesse Manuka Honey Mask for the same price. If you are careful application, you can use the mask twice per package, making it ~90 Euro cent per use.
Have you ever tried peel-off masks?
