BECCA Hydra Mist Set & Refresh Powder Review

A refreshing face mist in powder form? The BECCA Hydra Mist Set & Refresh Powder is described as a loose setting powder that helps to set makeup with a revitalizating, mist-like effect on the skin. The product is infused with 50% water to give even dry and dehydrated skin types a perfect look without caking, creasing or settling. I’m going to review this interesting product in today’s post.

The BECCA Hydra Mist Set & Refresh Powder comes in a sturdy plastic, transparent jar with a silver lid, holding 10 grams of product. The product is available in two shades, Original and Golden Bronze. I’ve received the shade Golden Bronze.

Opening the jar reveals another lid that prevents the product from spilling out. Opening that lid reveals the powder and a sifter that helps to pick up the perfect amount of product. I really love the packaging. It looks luxurious and is very practical to use.

Here is a swatch of the BECCA Hydra Mist Set & Refresh Powder in Golden Bronze, described as a Soft Warm Tan shade. You can already see from the swatch that the product has a blurring effect. The powder feels really soft, finely milled and does not have a scent. Interestingly, it also feels like I’m applying water on my skin when the product is when blended. Since the product is made of 50% water, the first ingredient mentioned on the ingredients list is water. It is really mind blowing because it’s still a loose powder.

The shade Golden Bronze is too dark for my skin at the moment to be used as a setting powder, so I used it as a bronzer instead. Here is a before (left) and after (right) using the product by applying it on the top of my cheekbones, side and top of my forehead and on the bridge of my nose.

It was really funny to apply the product on my face because every time I swiped the brush on my skin, I feel a cooling and wet sensation of water. I personally find the shade to be a bit too yellow to be used as a bronzer but it does work for warming up  and shaping the face.

I really didn’t think that something as simple as a setting powder could blow me away but wow, the BECCA Hydra Mist Set & Refresh Powder in Golden Bronze is a very cool and innovative product. I have problems with fine lines of my forehead and I could see the product blurring out these lines, which you can also see on the before/after picture. I’ve never seen a powder blur these lines as strong as this one. It really gives a beautiful soft-focus effect without looking like powder.

I’m actually going to buy the Original shade because I have problems with dry skin and fine lines underneath my eyes and forehead. All the powders I’ve tried so far look dry on me. I feel like Hydra Mist Set & Refresh Powder is made for someone like me who has a dehydrated skin type and I find it to be worth every penny. I highly recommend to try the product in stores, feel the very interesting water texture and look at the blurring effect yourself.
