Benefit Cosmetics Foolproof Brow Powder

Benefit Cosmetics Foolproof Brow Powder

Benefit Cosmetics is adding a new product to their brow family called the Foolproof Brow Powder. This powder, available in three different shades helps to create a for a soft, natural looking brow in an instant. The powder is supposed to adhere to hair and skin, lasting up to twelve hours. In this post, I’m going to show you the Benefit Cosmetics Foolproof Brow Powder in shade 5.

The Benefit Cosmetics Foolproof Brow Powder comes in a cardboard box with a typical Benefit illustration, which is always very cute and girly. It also shows a before/after picture at the front of the packaging and an overview of the product on the back.

The compact that holds the Benefit Cosmetics Foolproof Brow Powder is made from plastic but looks like a tin box with pink details, which has the same type of design as all the other brow products have. The shape reminds me of a teeny-tiny jewelry box. I’m a sucker for packaging and I really love how this looks!

Opening the compact reveals a mirror, the brow product itself and a dual-ended tool. The Benefit Cosmetics Foolproof Brow Powder consists of two different shades, a light shade for the inner part and a darker shade for the tail end.

The dual-ended tool consists of a sponge applicator to apply the product with and a spooly to brush the brows and also to brush the product through the brows for a softer effect.

Here are swatches of the Benefit Cosmetics Foolproof Brow Powder in shade 5 with the lighter shade on the left and the darker on the right. There are three different shades available at this moment, which are 01 – Light, 03 – Medium and 05 – Deep so this is the darkest shade. The powder feels finely milled and applies evenly. I can definitely already tell with these swatches that the powder adheres to the skin quite well.

Here is a before/after using the Benefit Cosmetics Foolproof Brow Powder in shade 5. In the first picture, my brows are completely bare without any products. On the second picture, I used the powder applied with the tool, having the lighter shade at the front of my brows and the darker shade at the back.

I can see the subtle gradients of the shade and I think the shade fits well on me however, I find the tool to be difficult to apply the product with. I have a lot of open spaces in my brows, which I just can’t fill in very well with the tool. Also, I find that I need more precision for the edges of my brows. Even though this product is made for a natural look, it just looks a bit too messy for me.

I personally prefer a more defined brow so I used a brush with the powder to define the edges and fill in the gaps in between my brows, as well as adding the Gimme Brow in Shade 3, a brow gel with fibers to bring the hairs more forward and set them in place. For me, this is enough definition but you can also define the brows even more by adding concealer to the edges of the brows to really make them sharp.

Here is my full make-up look using the Benefit Cosmetics Foolproof Brow Powder after the third part of the last picture. It doesn’t look natural because I prefer it this way, but I can definitely tell that my brows look much softer than they usually do. I really love that the powder adheres to the skin, since I don’t have much hairs there. The product lasted really long on me, didn’t wear it for twelve hours but it lasted for about eight hours before I took it off. I have swiped my fingers softly a few times on my brows, which does transfer some product but it doesn’t smudge on the rest of my face and still looks nice without creating gaps.

Overall, I really like the brow product itself, the colors match well and it makes my brows look really soft and full. I don’t like the applicator but using a brush works perfectly.

The Benefit Cosmetics Foolproof Brow Powder will launch in September 2017 for €27,04 Euro (recommended retail price) at Douglas.nl and selected Douglas Stores.
