Ipsy Glam Bag – December 2016

Another month, another Ipsy Glam Bag to show you! The Ipsy Glam Bag is a monthly subscription only available in the U.S. but thanks to Shipito, it is possible to subscribe and send the bag to the Netherlands. The Ipsy Glam Bag December 2016 is themed “Carpe P.M.”. You can check out my previous Ipsy Bags here.

Ipsy Glam Bag December 2016

The Ipsy Glam Bag December 2016 is all about fun, forgetting responsibilities and just enjoy the moment. The bag of this month has a red berry shade and looks a bit like faux fur/suede. It has the Ipsy logo in front of the bag with a long strap. This bag can also be used as a clutch.

Like always, the bag contains five items in total. The contents of each bag is different for everyone, you might get a few items as I have but you can also get five completely different items. You have to fill in your preferences and style during subscription so that you get your own bag filled with your personal preferences. Ipsy Stylists like Chrisspy, Desi Perkins, Lustrelux and Promise Phan pick out products to feature in the bags each month.

The first item in my Ipsy Glam Bag December 2016 is the tarte Maracuja Oil. This is a facial oil that is supposed to leave the skin quenched, nourished, and dewy. This product is packed with skin-brightening Vitamin C and repairing fatty acids and can also be used for other things like controlling frizzy hair and removal of make-up.

.

I actually already own a full-size bottle of the tarte Maracuja Oil! I like to use this by adding a drop or two to my foundation to give it an extra dewy finish. It doesn’t really have a scent (it smells like sunflower oil to me). The oil is easy to use with by using the dropper. I’m really happy to have this in my bag because the deluxe size is perfect to travel with and I can always re-fill this using my bigger bottle.

The next item in my Ipsy Glam Bag December 2016 is the mPrincess Mineral Eyeshadow in Melting Maple. The shadow has a soft maple-brown shade which is supposed to have an intense color in a single swipe, smooth and easy to blend with a lightweight formula.

I actually hate loose eyeshadow/pigments. The packaging does have a sifter but if you just chuck it somewhere in a bag, the top part will be full again, even if you shake the packaging a bit. The pigment gets everywhere, which is usually the case for any loose eyeshadow/pigments. Even though I hate using this type of product, the color is crazy beautiful, smooth and very intense and sparkly. I might even consider using this more often even though I don’t to use loose pigments, that’s how gorgeous I think it is.

The third item is the Privai Aqua Gel Masque. This is a mask with a gel-like consistency. It is supposed to be super moisturizing. The addition of chamomile flower calms skin, reducing redness and inflammation. Green tea is also an ingredient in this mask that helps heal existing damage and reduce the look of wrinkles.

The gel consistency of the mask reminds me of aloe vera. It feels really nice and soothing when applied to my face. It leaves my skin feeling tacky, which is great for the cold winter days. I don’t find the scent really appealing though, it has a bit of a generic, gel like scent. Other than that, it’s definitely a nice product to use.

The next item is the Hikari Felt Tip Liquid Eyeliner in Iris. The liner has a deep violet shade which is supposed to go on smooth with a non-smudging formula. The stiff tip is pointed and doesn’t bend or wiggle to create incredibly precise lines. The liner is pigmented enough to give color with one coat but can be intensified by layering.

I’m not a huge fan of felt tip eyeliners since these dry out fairly quickly but this one looks promising since the formula is fairly wet and goes on smooth. It doesn’t move when I rub my finger over it. I like that I didn’t get a black shade, it’s refreshing to see another shade in the bag. I’m not so impressed by the pigmentation though. I got quite a tan during my Holidays in Thailand and the purple doesn’t really stand out on my skintone. I haven’t tried layering the liner though so it might be better when doing that.

The last item in my Ipsy Glam Bag December 2016 is the theBalm Mad Lash Mascara. This mascara has a flexible wand to hug each and every lash to coat it with its rich black shade. The curved brush is supposed to give amazing volume and lift.

This is two coats using the theBalm Mad Lash Mascara. It definitely gives a lot of volume and the brush is easy to use for both upper and bottom lashes. You do have to be careful applying this mascara, since it can make your lashes look spidery very quickly. I wouldn’t like to use this mascara when putting on false lashes because the look that the mascara gives will not blend with the lashes that well. I do like to use a mascara like this on its own. It also didn’t transfer on my lids so I really like it.

For this eyelook I also used the Hikari Felt Tip Liquid Eyeliner in Iris and the mPrincess Mineral Eyeshadow in Melting Maple on my lid and inner corner. The liner almost looks blue in the picture, so it definitely changes depending on what you have as a base. Again, liking the eyeshadow shade a lot but still not very impresse by the liner.

Overall, I think the items in my Ipsy Glam Bag December 2016 were great! All of them are very practical and I probably will use all the products again in the future. I think the products that I’ve received are well over the value that I’ve payed for the bag. My favorite items are the tarte Maracuja Oil and the theBalm Mad Lash Mascara.

The Ipsy Glam Bag costs $10 USD per month. When you use your Shipito address to send the bag to the Netherlands, it will cost an additional $7,25 USD making a total of $17,25 USD per month, which is about €15,50 Euro (check Xe.com for the exact converted price). For me, it took about 2-3 weeks to arrive.

If you want, you can subscribe to the Ipsy Glam Bag using this link. This is an affiliate link, which gives me 250 points when someone subscribes via that link. With these points, I can get additional products in my next box but again, feel free to do whatever you want!
