Jeffree Star Cosmetics has recently released two new shades and a re-released shade in the Velour Liquid Lipstick line. When I tried the shade Androgyny, I fell in love with this brands liquid lipsticks so I had to get these shades immediately. For this post, I’m going to show you swatches of the Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks in Gemini, Doll Parts and Scorpio.
Even though I already own 17 Shades of the Jeffree Star Liquid Lipsticks in total, I just realized that I only have reviewed the shade Androgyny! I’m definitely planning to do more of them in the future. The shades Gemini, Doll Parts and Scorpio are in the permanent collection so they come in a pink box with metallic rosy pink stars details. The shade Doll Parts was originally released during Holiday 2015 which had white packaging and white details. Like Androgyny, this shade was so popular that it was again re-introduced as a permanent shade with the permanent shades packaging.
The Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks have the most awesome tube of all the liquid lipsticks I own. The details are really amazing. The top of the lipstick is pink like the packaging with metallic rosy pink stars imprinted on it. The tube is transparent and has “Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick” imprinted on it.
The cap has a “clicking” closure system, you can crew on the top and it “clicks” when it’s closed, so you’re always ensured that you’re lipstick is properly closed when storing it away. The transparent wand (another cool detail) has a very fluffy doe-foot applicator, which slightly bends when you put some pressure on it. Like I’ve said before in my previous review I love when a brand puts so much detail and effort in their products, you can really see that Jeffree Star has put a lot of work in the packaging of these liquid lipsticks.
Here are the swatches of the Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks from left to right: Gemini, Doll Parts and Scorpio. All of the shades are opaque but all of them slightly are different in formula. I’ll explain everything in detail in the individual swatches below. All the shades are at least all transfer and smudge-proof after drying, which takes about five minutes for all shades.
Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in Gemini
The Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in Gemini is a terra-cotta warm-toned nude with a matte finish. The formula is very thin but still feels creamy, similar to Androgyny. This shade is root beer scented. We’re not so familiar with root beer in the Netherlands, I’ve never tried it at least. The scent kind of reminds me of tiger balm, which mind sound weird but that is what it reminds me of. The shade last very well on me. It can last a whole working day with a small touch up after lunch.
Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in Doll Parts
The Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in Doll Parts is a soft cool toned pink with a matte finish. Cool toned pinks normally don’t look very well on me, but I think this shade is really fun and great for spring/summer. The formula is slightly more creamy and less runny compared to Gemini. This shade is completely unscented. I immediately noticed that the shade looks a bit more drying and slightly emphasizes wrinkles on my lips, but it doesn’t feel drying. It was also disappearing a bit quicker in the inner rim of my lips so be careful of the dreaded “butthole lips”. It doesn’t fade far though so this shade also lasts very well for 6-8 hours with some re-application after a meal.
Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in Doll Parts Scorpio
The Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in Scorpio is a grey-ish purple with a matte finish. The formula is very creamy and not runny at all. The funny thing about the different formulas is that I do not notice any wear-time or comfort level differences, only during application. The creamy formula like this one does not tend to go to your teeth during application, which definitely happens (and thankfully not stain my lips) with the runny formula. This shade is completely unscented. Again, this shade lasts very well for 6-8 hours with some re-application after a meal.
Even though all the shades have a different formula, all the shades perform very well. They are smudge and transfer-proof but still feel comfortable. They also tend to feel a tiny bit sticky so rubbing my lips together is not possible. I really am happy to have these shades in my collection. Gemini is my favorite of these three shades which I highly recommend to get yourself. It is a nice every-day shade that will compliment many different skintones.
