MAC Whirl and Stone Lipsticks

The 90’s lipstick shades are back and better than ever. This lipstick trend has been brought back to life by the it-girl Kylie Jenner. She has been using brown-toned MAC Cosmetics lip pencils shades like Whirl. Since then, the demand for these type of shades has been rising non-stop. MAC has responded by creating Lipstick variations of some popular lip pencil shades like Whirl and Stone. I’m going to show you swatches of these two new MAC Lipsticks.

The MAC Whirl and Stone Lipsticks are a part of the new The Matte Lip Collection. They have the regular MAC Lipstick black packaging and tube.

Swatches of MAC Whirl (left) and Stone (right). They both have a matte finish and are nicely pigmented. I’m so used to wearing liquid lipsticks that this doesn’t even seem matte to me anymore. However, these are definitely typical MAC matte finish lipsticks. Unfortunately, I don’t own the lip pencil variants of these lipsticks so I’m not able to compare them.

Note: I wanted to use another foundation however, my skin is more tan than I expected so the foundation is a bit too light on my skin at the moment, sorry for that!

MAC Whirl Lipstick

MAC Whirl is a Dirty Rose Lipstick with a matte finish. On me, it looks brown with a hint of rose. The slight hint of that makes it a very wearable and beautiful nude type of shade. When I started using lipstick ~10 years ago, this type of shade was my absolute favorite. I think I would be all over this color every single day. Nowadays, I don’t gravitate towards these brown shades anymore but this one has something special, I think I have re-fallen in love again thanks to this lipstick.

MAC Stone Lipstick

MAC Stone is a Muted Grey-ish Taupe Brown Lipstick with a matte finish. This lipstick looks much more brown in the tube but used on me, it turns into a beautiful grey-ish Taupe color. I thought that I wouldn’t like this lipstick at all however, it turns out to match perfectly with my hair. I think this is a chameleon type of shade where it really changes in how it looks depending on your skin tone.  This is also a shade that you would either love or hate that isn’t very typical if it wasn’t for the trend. I don’t own any other lipstick shades like this one, and I’m very happy to add this to my collection.

Both MAC Whirl and Stone Lipsticks nicely pigmented, easy to apply and doesn’t bleed between fine lines. They do smudge a bit and you have to re-apply these lipsticks after eating/drinking but overall, it stays in place and feels comfortable throughout the day. They do feel slightly drying after wearing for a couple of hours but it isn’t as drying compared to liquid lipsticks.

Both shades are permanent so you don’t have to worry about these lipsticks selling out forever. They are very popular at the moment though, so you have to be quick to buy them because it sometimes takes a while to restock. You can purchase the MAC Whirl and Stone Lipsticks for €19,00 Euro at maccosmetics.nl. The are also available at the MAC counters starting from August 15th.

I’m definitely getting the lip pencils of these shades too, since I’m madly in love with both of them now. Which one is your favorite?

Cheers,

Lariesa

Whirl vind ik je prachtig staan! Ik koop geen MAC meer, maar ik ga wel op zoek naar zulke kleurtjes van andere merken (:
