NARS Audacious Lipstick in Anna

The NARS Audacious Lipsticks are supposed to be one of the best lipsticks around. The formula of these lipsticks is supposed to be creamy and highly pigmented, a complete coverage within one stroke with a long-lasting satin finish. It was the winner of the Temptalia 2015 Readers Choice awards in the categories best lipstick and best new product of 2014. Since I highly value the opinions of Christine and the Temptalia readers, I had to try these lipsticks for myself. There are 40 different shades in total. Since these lipsticks are rather expensive, I’ve had the difficult task before me to only pick one colour. After looking into swatches on the internet, it wasn’t as difficult as I thought because I fell completely in love with one colour named Anna. Of course, I wasn’t the only one who fell in love with the colour. Anna has been notoriously hard to get. It is one of those colours that quickly sells out when in stock. After weeks of waiting, it finally was back in stock and I was able to get one. Since I only have seen swatches on the internet, I was very curious to see how the lipstick was in real life.

The NARS Audacious Lipstick in Anna come in a typical NARS black box. It looks very simplistic and modern, exactly as you would expect from NARS packaging.

The lipstick is held in a matte black aluminum casing. It looks and feels very sleek, modern and luxurious. It also has the NARS logo printed around the casing. The lipstick has a magnetic closure. I abso-f***ing-lutely LOVE these kinds of packaging. The magnetic closure makes it less likely to have your lipstick open accidentally in your purse compared to the regular “click” system. Of course wouldn’t expect less from NARS, especially for the price. I’m that kind of person that buys a product solely because it looks awesome, I think it’s a very important feature that any good quality lipstick or make-up product should have.

The bullet has the NARS logo pressed into the lipstick. Again, a small little detail that I, as a lipstick fanatic truly enjoy. There is no perfume added to the lipstick so it doesn’t have a distinct smell, but also doesn’t smell “cheap” like some perfume-free lipsticks can be. A lot of perfume-free lipsticks still have their own strong chemical scent, which to me smells “cheap”. The NARS Audacious Lipstick does not smell like that at all. This is probably because the lipstick is made with high quality ingredients.

Nars Audacious Lipstick in Anna has a Dusty Rose / Mauve-y colour. The swatch was made with one swipe and as you can see, it is very high pigmented and opaque.  I’m a complete sucker for these kind of colours. Dusty Rose / Mauve colours are my favorite type of colours in lipsticks to wear. If you also love these kind of lipstick colours, you will definitely love Anna.

The lipstick is on my lips again, completely opaque and very easy to apply. The lipstick feels somewhat drying but not as much as a matte lipstick formula. I think the quality and formula of these lipsticks are comparable to the Estée Lauder Pure Color Envy lipsticks, only slightly less creamy, but I’ve read that the creamy-ness is different depending on the colours. I’m very excited to have NARS Anna in my lipstick collection. I think this colour is absolutely beautiful and will definitely use this lipstick more often. I would have loved it even more if the lipsticks have had a scent though, like the Crème brûlée scent in the Kat von D Studded Kiss Lipsticks, this is however my personal preference.

Like I’ve mentioned before, the NARS Audacious Lipsticks are quite expensive, they cost €30 Euro’s each, which is actually a “normal” price for a high-end lipstick. For example, the Estée Lauder Pure Color Envy lipsticks cost €32,95 Euro’s each. The NARS Audacious Lipsticks are in my opinion a high-end lipstick worth your money. The packaging is very luxurious and the lipstick itself is amazing to use. I can definitely see why this lipstick is loved by so many people. I’m a fan and will definitely try more of them in the future.
