NARS Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation Review

NARS Cosmetics introduces the NARS Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation, which is supposed to have a buildable medium to full coverage with a natural ‘second skin’ finish, lasting up to 16 hours. The foundation does not only give a long lasting coverage, nourishing ingredients help to support and smooth out the skins texture. I have received the foundation in the shade Patagonia, which I’m going to put to the test and review in today’s post.

The NARS Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation is available in 33 different shades. It comes in a regular NARS Cosmetics black cardboard box that has a soft matte finish. I always have loved the simple and modern look of the NARS packaging, but the soft matte texture of the packaging gets dirty really quickly. The rectangular foundation bottle itself is made of glass with black details, containing 30 mL of product. It feels really heavy and luxurious.

The NARS Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation comes with a pump, which is not lockable so not losing the cap is a must. The pump is actually quite unique, because the amount that comes out of it is very tiny, which you can see on the picture below. Normally, I use two pumps to cover my entire face but with this foundation, I have to pump four to five times to cover my entire face. This means that you can be less wasteful using this foundation, because you can start with a tiny amount of product easily if you’d wish.

The NARS Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation in Patagonia is described as a Medium shade with Light Peach undertones. It’s funny, because I always go for yellow undertones when it comes to foundations, but this one was matched to me and it looks great! What is also great about the NARS Foundations is that the colors are the same for all the lines, so if you have a certain shade in this line, it is exactly the same with another line.

The texture of the foundation is creamy but lightweight, only leaving a thin layer when spread out. The foundation is formulated to improve the skin over time thanks to a mix of Raspberry-, Apple- and Watermelon Extracts that support the skins Elastic Fibers to soften and improve the skins texture. The addition of special pigments, which are able to ‘recognize’ the skin gives it a best possible match for a second skin effect.

Here is a before/after where I’ve applied the NARS Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation in Patagonia on my face. The foundation definitely has a medium coverage. At first, I didn’t like how the foundation looked. It looked really fake and matte like having a layer on top of my skin and settled in fine lines, but the foundation actually changes beautifully over time.

I continued finishing all my make-up and the NARS Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation in Patagonia changed in front of me, now looking beautifully radiant, natural and skin like. The parts that settled in my fine lines were also looking good. The foundation does set to dry completely but does not have a powdery finish. Since I have a dry skin type, I didn’t use any powders to set the foundation.

Here is a picture of the initial application and after about 8 to 9 hours of wear. The foundation felt great on my skin, because I didn’t really feel anything except for my skin feeling moisturized. I think over time, the foundation looked good but it doesn’t look like how it was when it was applied. It did get more shiny over time, which you can especially notice on the tip of my nose. I think that you might have to powder from time to time when you have a normal to oily skin, which is probably the case for my T-zone in the more humid, Summer season.

I absolutely love the NARS Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation! My favorite type of foundations are the ones that look healthy and natural. This one does exactly what I want, it matches perfectly with my skin tone and makes my skin look and feel amazing.

The NARS Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation is available for €45,00 Euro at DeBijenkorf.nl and at the NARS counters at De Bijenkorf AmsterdamUtrecht and Rotterdam.

Do you like a Natural Radiant finish or do you prefer a matte finish when it comes to foundations?
