NARS Spring 2019 Palettes Review

NARS has launched a bunch of products for Spring 2019, including a variety of palettes like the NARS Ignited Eyeshadow Palette and the Exposed Cheek Palette.  For this post, I’m going to review these new Limited Edition NARS Spring 2019 Palettes in today’s post.

NARS Ignited Eyeshadow Palette

The Limited Edition NARS Ignited Eyeshadow Palette (€55,00 Euro/12x 1.4 gr) consists of twelve blazing eyeshadows in a versatile range of matte, shimmer, and glitter finishes. The palette has a vibrant pink and violet Spring look, is made of sturdy plastic with a mirror inside the lid.

The size and format is the exact same as last years Spring Eyeshadow Palette, NARS Wanted (review here). The shades of this year seem to have Pink toned shades and more sparkling eyeshadows compared to that palette.

The NARS Ignited Eyeshadow Palette is swatched from left to right, top row to bottom row. The eyeshadow shades are described as follows:

HAMMAMET I (Permanent) –  Matte Beige
ST-PAUL-DE-VENCE I (Permanent) – Shimmering Nectarine
LIGHT UP (Limited Edition) – Sparkling Pink Pearl
ATOMIC (Limited Edition) – Sparkling Bubblegum Pink
SOPHIA (Permanent) – Matte Rich Cool Brown
SUPERNOVA (Limited Edition) – Metallic Coral with Pink
IN HEAT (Limited Edition) – Sparkling Magenta
IGNITION (Limited Edition) – Sparkling Rose
NOUMEA (Permanent) – Matte Sienna
FIRED UP (Limited Edition) – Sparkling Purple with Blue
FUSE (Limited Edition) – Sparkling Purple with Blue
PONTE NOIR (Permanent) – Sparkling Eggplant with Pink

I like that there are only three matte shades in the palette. These are the exact type of shades that I would use to create for a transition, crease and deepening the inner corner, which you then can combine with any of the other eight eyeshadow shades. All eyeshadows are very soft, buttery and glide on easily onto the skin without looking patchy. The only two shades that I did have minor issues with are Light Up and Atomic. These shades are a bit flaky when used dry but are perfect when they’re used wet. The eyeshadows that have sparkling finish can also be used wet to intensify the effect. The swatches shown are all used dry.

For this look, I used HAMMAMET I (transition shade), SOPHIA (crease, outer and inner 3rd of the upper lid and on the bottom lid), NOUMEA (deepen crease, deepen outer and inner 3rd of the upper lid and bottom lid), FUSE (middle of the upper lid) and LIGHT UP (inner corner highlight).

NARS Exposed Cheek Palette

The Limited Edition NARS Exposed Cheek Palette (€49,00 Euro/6x 3 gr) consists of six universally flattering shades. The shades are all new, have an innovative blend of pure pigments called the Color Clarity Complex that gives vibrant, buildable color to accentuate all skin tones.

I’m absolutely mesmerized by the look of the palette. It has a wavy texture like water with hues of pink and nude shades, is made of sturdy plastic with a mirror inside the lid. The powders have the same beautiful wavy texture.

The NARS Exposed Cheek Palette is swatched from left to right, top row to bottom row. The shades are described as follows:

TELL ALL (Limited Edition) –  Perlescent Golden Pink
NOW OR NEVER (Limited Edition) – Satin Terracotta
GIVE IT AWAY (Limited Edition) – Satin Nude
MAKE YOU MINE (Limited Edition) – Satin Peach
COME HITHER (Limited Edition) – Satin Watermelon
NEW FLING (Limited Edition) – Satin Fuchsia

All the shades feel very soft and they really have an interesting feel to them. I don’t know how exactly to describe it, but it does a bit feel like touching velvet. These apply evenly, can be applied very subtle but can also be build up to a higher color payoff. since I’m not a heavy blush type of person. I love blushes that are subtle at first that needs some building, instead of a high pay-off that needs to be carefully applied and heavily sheered out.

Here is a before and after picture using the NARS Exposed Cheek Palette, using the shade NOW OR NEVER as a bronzer, MAKE YOU MINE as a blush and TELL ALL as a highlighter.

These two new palettes of the NARS Spring 2019 releases are absolutely beautiful. I really think that the NARS Ignited Eyeshadow Palette is very well thought out. The sparkling shades have different colors of glitter sparkles, which makes them look very unique and a must-have in my book. You can definitely create a nice variety of looks using this palette.

I would personally purchase the NARS Exposed Cheek Palette solely for its packaging. It is SO amazingly beautiful in my eyes, I keep staring at the packaging! I do have to say that the shades inside the palette looked a bit intimidating to me, they seemed dark and difficult to use for my skin tone but since they’re subtle and buildable, I think you can use this palette for different skin tones. I was also hesitant to use the shade NOW OR NEVER as a bronzer instead of a blush because it is a red based shade but even that turned out to look beautiful.

I would absolutely recommend to check out both palettes if you can!
