NYX Professional Makeup Off Tropic Shadow Palettes Review

Get tropical with the new NYX Professional Makeup Off Tropic Shadow Palettes, two palettes inspired by the heat and hues of an island paradise. Each palette is packed with a colorful range of eyeshadows and pigments with metallic, matte and satin finishes. I’m going to review both NYX Professional Makeup Off Tropic Shadow Palettes in today’s post.

NYX Professional Makeup Off Tropic Shadow Palette in Hasta La Vista

The NYX Professional Makeup Off Tropic Shadow Palette in Hasta La Vista is made of a cardboard material, which is magnetized. The palette has an image of tropical leaves with a cool, sunset background on the outside and inside of the lid, so the palette does not have a mirror. Inside are ten rectangular pans, containing ten bright eyeshadows and pressed pigment. Each pan contains 1.1 grams of product. The palette feels sturdy and lightweight, which makes it great for traveling.

Here are swatches of the NYX Professional Makeup Off Tropic Shadow Palette in Hasta La Vista. The palette contains six pressed pigments, indicated by the asterisk (*) and four eyeshadow shades. The shades, especially the ones with a matte finish feel a bit dry and powdery but I have to say that they apply even and are of decent quality. Most of them are not fully opaque but are buildable and can be easily intensified by using a good eyeshadow base.

For this look, I used the shade 8 as a transition, shade 1 on the crease, shade 2 on the crease below the previous color, shade 10 to deepen the crease, outer V and bottom lid, shade 5 on the lower lashline (intensified by a cream eyeliner base), shade 7 at the outer 4th of the upper lid, shade 2 next to the previous color, followed by shade 9 and to finish the upper lid, shade 8. The highlighter in the inner corner is not from the palette, since there are no highlighter shades available in the palette.

I really like how this colorful look turned out.  I normally only use an eyeshadow primer as a base but for this look, I’ve had to use a cream eyeshadow base to intensify the colors. The NYX Professional Makeup Off Tropic Shadow Palette in Hasta La Vista is great if you use it in such a way. The colors blend nicely into each other and are complimentary to each other. You can definitely create many colorful looks using this palette.

The NYX Professional Makeup Off Tropic Shadow Palette in Shifting Sand very similar to the other palette, only having a warm, sunrise background containing warm eyeshadow and pigment shades.

Here are swatches of the NYX Professional Makeup Off Tropic Shadow Palette in Shifting Sand. Like the other palette, this palette also contains six pressed pigments, indicated by the asterisk (*) and four eyeshadow shades. The shades also perform the same, a bit dry and powdery but are of decent quality, buildable and can be easily intensified by using a good eyeshadow base.

For this look, I used the shade 3 as a transition, shade 6 on the crease below the previous color, shade 8 to deepen the crease, shade 10 to deepen the outer corners of the lid, shade 9 on inner and outer 3rd of the upper lid and shade 2 on the middle of the upper lid. The highlighter in the inner corner is not from the palette, since there are no highlighter shades available in the palette.

I really enjoyed using the NYX Professional Makeup Off Tropic Shadow Palette in Shifting Sand.  Like the other palette, this needs a creamy eyeshadow base to pop. I especially love the color story of this palette. The shades are warm but to me, have a unique combination of shades that definitely feel tropical. If I had to pick on of the two palettes, it would definitely be this one.

The palettes are pretty decent if you give them a little bit of extra help using a cream eyeshadow base. They’re also easy to travel with. The colors of both palettes give a nice and lush tropical vibe, perfect for Summer.
