YSL Rouge Pur Couture The Slim Matte Lipstick Review

Yves Saint Laurent has expanded their Rouge Pur Couture line by introducing the YSL Rouge Pur Couture The Slim Matte Lipsticks. The product is described as a super-slim, square lipstick that provides luxurious, long-wear, high-pigmented color in 17 couture inspired shades developed for every skin tone by YSL creative director Tom Pecheux. For this post, I’m going to review and swatch three shades of the YSL Rouge Pur Couture The Slim Matte Lipsticks.

The YSL Rouge Pur Couture The Slim Matte Lipstick comes in a slim tube with black and gold details, containing 3 grams of product each. The lipstick design is inspired by the iconic designs of the Yves Saint Laurent Couture House. The shape is supposed to allow a neat, clean and beautiful result in just a few swipes. I like the design, I think it looks modern, luxurious and elegant.

The three shades of the YSL Rouge Pur Couture The Slim Matte Lipstick that I’ve received are 11 Ambiguous Beige, 01 Rouge Extravagant and 18 Reverse Red. The formula is very soft and creamy, pigmented and glides effortlessly onto the skin. The formula stays creamy and doesn’t dry while having soft, leather-like matte finish.

Like other YSL lip products, this lipstick has a strong, perfume-like scent. I really enjoy the scent but I know some people really dislike it, so be aware and try to smell these in store if you’re sensitive to scents.

YSL Rouge Pur Couture The Slim Matte Lipstick in 11 Ambiguous Beige

The brand doesn’t provide shade descriptions of the lipsticks, so I will explain the shades as how I see them. The YSL Rouge Pur Couture The Slim Matte Lipstick in 11 Ambiguous Beige is what I would describe as a Warm Rose Nude shade. This shade was easy to apply and looks so beautiful on the lips. The leather matte finish makes my lips look super soft and less wrinkly.

YSL Rouge Pur Couture The Slim Matte Lipstick in 01 Rouge Extravagant

The YSL Rouge Pur Couture The Slim Matte Lipstick in 01 Rouge Extravagant is what I would describe as a True Red shade. This shade was also easy to apply. I think this color in combination with the finish make the lipstick look absolutely perfect.

YSL Rouge Pur Couture The Slim Matte Lipstick in 18 Reverse Red

The YSL Rouge Pur Couture The Slim Matte Lipstick in 18 Reverse Red is what I would describe as a Wine Red shade. This shade was a bit more difficult to apply. It is slightly patchy because it tends to cling on dry spots, so lipscrub and hydrated lips are an absolute must for this shade. I do really love how sophisticated and vampy this shade looks.

I think that the YSL Rouge Pur Couture The Slim Matte Lipsticks are absolutely amazing. I really love the finish of the lipsticks, they make my lips look soft and less wrinkly. I’ve seen other lipsticks with this type of finish but usually, they are grainy and dry. Although I can feel these lipsticks sitting on my lips due to the creamy-ness, I find them comfortable and long-lasting without bleeding into fine lines. For me personally, I don’t think that the shape of the lipstick had an added value, especially since the lipstick got more rounded the more often I used it.

I would absolutely recommend to check out this lipstick if you’re a fan of high-end products and if you find matte liquid lipsticks too uncomfortable. These will also blur out lines instead of making the lips more wrinkly like some matte liquid lipstick do.
