OPI Breakfast at Tiffany’s Collection

OPI has released a new collection for the holidays called Breakfast at Tiffany’s, inspired by the sparkling elegance of Holly Golightly, a character portrayed by Audrey Hepburn in the Hollywood classic that shares the same name as the collection. I’m going to show you three shades of the OPI Breakfast at Tiffany’s Collection.

I’m really bad at watching classic movies, because I have never seen Breakfast at Tiffany’s before! I do know that Audrey Hepburn has been hugely successful after portraying the iconic role of Holly Golightly, a New York socialite with a lovely taste in beauty and fashion.  I’m really obsessed with the promotional picture above, it looks so classic and elegant. The shade in the picture is “I Believe in Manicures“, which is of course the iconic shade what the jewelry store Tiffany & Co is known for.

The OPI Breakfast at Tiffany’s Collection consists of twelve nail polish shades. There is also a mini set available called “Style Icons”, which has four shades of the collection. For this review, I received three shades, which are Apartment for Two, Fire Escape Rendezvous and Rich & Brazilian. These are full-sized and come in the regular OPI bottle which are transparent with black details, containing  15 mL of Nail Polish per bottle.

OPI Apartment for Two

OPI Apartment For Two is a Fuschia Pink shade with a creme finish. This is a vibrant and girly shade. The formula of this nail polish is very easy to work with; thin, dries quickly and opaque. It applies very evenly and if you’re careful, one coat should suffice but you do see a really subtle difference between the pink/white part of your nails so it’s not fully opaque after one coat. I used two coats in the swatches.

OPI Fire Escape Rendezvous

OPI Fire Escape Rendezvous  is a Fire Truck Red shade with silver shards and a matte metallic finish. The formula is thicker but still easy okay to work with. You have to place the shards a bit in position because they can stack up on each other when you swipe the brush back and forth. The polish looks beautiful when wet, it is super metallic and sparkly. Unfortunately, this effect disappears when dried. It really loses the “magical” looking finish because of the finish becoming matte. Also, the shards become silver over time when the polish starts to wear off. However, this can all be prevented using a top coat. I used two coats for the swatches.

Here is a swatch using the OPI Rapi Dry Top Coat, which makes it very shiny again and also evens out the surface, which was bumpy due to the shards. The top coat gives the polish life again, so I would definitely recommend using one when using this shade.

OPI Rich & Brazilian

OPI Rich & Brazilian  is a Dark and Vampy Violet shade with a shimmery finish. Pictures don’t do this shade justice. The shimmers in this polish are very interesting, with a mix of silver and purple from what I can see. The formula is easy to work with, thin and applies even. I used two coats in the swatch. Unfortunately, this is another shade that loses it’s beauty when dried. It still looks very pretty but I do prefer a top coat using this shade.

Here’s another swatch using the OPI Rapi Dry Top Coat. It just gives Rich & Brazilian a little bit more shine to let the sparkle come out better. I really love vampy shades like this for the time of the year. This is also my favorite one of the three shades.

OPI Breakfast at Tiffany’s is a fun collection with lots of variety in shades and finishes. There are girly shades in there, but also very bold shades so I think there’s plenty of picks for everyone. The shades that I’ve tried of this collection perform well. My only problem was that two shades need a top coat for them to bring out their beauty but I don’t mind doing so, since the formulas dry fast.

The Limited Edition OPI Breakfast at Tiffany’s Holiday Collection is available at October 31st 2016 at Douglas stores and Douglas.nl. You can also check out the OPI Sales Locator for other store locations. The full-sized Nail Polishes are €14,95 each. The Limited Edition “Style Icon” Mini Set, which has four shades (3.75 mL each) is available for €17,95.

Which shade is your favorite of this collection?

Cheers

Apartment for Two ziet er super schattig uit!
