Christmas is here in a few days and to give you some inspiration, I want to show you my FOTD Christmas Make-up for 2016 with a bold, cut-crease eyelook and a simple nude lip.
I chose to leave out the festive, red lip because how I usually celebrate Christmas, is by gathering around with friends and family and to eat A LOT of food. A bold, red lip would lead to constant check-ups so a nude lip is much easier if you celebrate Christmas like I do. Of course you have to do something special and thats where the big lashes and cut-crease comes in. As you can see in the pictures, it looks quite normal when my eyes are open but looks really special when closed, which I think is a nice surprise and give a great effect to the look.
The eyelook looks really difficult but it’s quite easy once you get the hang of it. This is my third attempt doing a cut-crease like this, and I can easily do it by following Youtube tutorials of my friend An Knook. She makes the cut-crease look so easy that anyone can do it. The important things are to use a tape for a sharp line, use a lot of transition and crease shades for a smooth transition, use a liquid concealer like MAC Pro Longwear to clean up the lid and crease with a flat brush and apply the lid color. For this look, I used the Toofaced The Power of Makeup Palette by Nikkietutorials (review here) for all eyeshadows.
You can easily use different shades for the eyelid depending on your outfit. You can also opt for a glitter lid, What is also important with this look is bold lashes. The ones that I’m wearing are Annytude Bossy lashes. By the way, I forgot to turn my camera to the correct whit balance so it might be that the colors are a bit different in the closeup shots.
The rest of my make-up is very clean and simple. I used a full coverage foundation to make my skin look flawless indoors. I only wear full coverage foundation during special occasions because it can look very cakey on me outdoors, which is why I normally use a light to medium coverage foundation. I also love to contour using bronzer to give my face more shape. I would also use a bright highlighter for a Christmas look. Like I’ve mentioned before, if you are going to eat a lot of food like I always do, I would definitely suggest to go for a nude lip.
Here’s how the make-up looks like using a glossy, metallic red lip. I find it a bit too much and a bit too drag-looking but you can of course do whatever you like. I would personally combine this lip with a more simple eyelook.
Just in case you’re wondering what lipstick this is, I used the Limited Edition Metallic Liquid Lipstick from MUA. I’m wearing it on its own in the swatch but I would definitely recommend to use a lip liner as a base if you want to use this shade. You can get this for free when you spend €7.99 or more on MUA products at Kruidvat stores.
I hope that my look gave you some inspiration for a Christmas Make-up Look and that you will have a lovely day with the people you hold dear in your life. I’m actually celebrating Christmas somewhere on a beach in Thailand, so I’m probably not going to wear any make-up. Just enjoying my day with my lovely boyfriend.
What kind of make-up look are you planning to wear for Christmas?
