Prepare your skin for the holidays with the TONYMOLY Tako Cleansing Elixir Holiday Set. This set contains two products from the Tako Pore Collection that help create a radiant looking skin by deeply cleansing the pores. For today’s post, I’m going to show and review the products inside the set, which are the TONYMOLY Tako Bubble Pack and the Tako Cleansing Stick.
The TONYMOLY Tako Pore Collection consists of products that is formulated with a Marine Root-Up Complex, which contains Taurine (hydrates and firms skin for a pore-tightening effect), Dead Sea Salt (natural minerals provide soothing after-care) and Black Peat Water (purifies skin by absorbing waste and toxins). The products of the collection are shaped like a black, cartoon-ish Octopus, which I think looks adorable! Tako is actually the Japanese word for Octopus, which I find quite interesting since TONYMOLY is a South-Korean brand!
TONYMOLY Tako Bubble Pack
The TONYMOLY Tako Bubble Pack (65 gr) is a bubble effect face mask that gently exfoliates, deeply cleanses pores and absorbs excess oil to reveal a more radiant looking, smoother and clearer skin. Aside from the Marine Root-Up Complex, the formula also contains Rotorua Mud for absorbing excess oil and Charcoal Powder for extracting blackheads, whiteheads and other skin impurities.
The ingredients list of the TONYMOLY Tako Bubble Pack is as follows:
Water, Glycerin, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Kaolin, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Palmitic Acid, Stearic Acid, Bentonite, Ethyl Perfluoroisobutyl Ether, Ethyl Perfluorobutyl Ether, Potassium Hydroxide, Charcoal Powder, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance, Xanthan Gum, Cellulose Gum, Chlorphenesin, Tetrasodium Pyrophosphate, Polyglyceryl-10 Stearate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Caprylyl Glycol, Polyglyceryl-10 Myristate, Arachidic Acid, Myristic Acid, Lauric Acid, Disodium EDTA, Citric Acid, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Butylene Glycol, Sea Salt, Montmorillonite, Sea Water, Acacia Senegal Gum, Peat Water, Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose, Taurine, Acanthopanax Senticosus (Eleuthero) Root Extract, Chlorella Vulgaris/Lupinus Albus Protein Ferment, Potassium Sorbate.
According to the instructions on the back of the TONYMOLY Tako Cleansing Elixir Holiday Set, the Tako Bubble Pack is used by applying an appropriate amount on a gently dried cleansed skin, avoiding the eye area. Wait 3 to 5 minutes until the bubbles fully foam up and wash off with lukewarm water.
The mask feels very creamy at first and slowly changes in a thick, foamy substance when applied on my face, which you can already see forming in the picture above. The product has a fresh scent, which is very noticeable and I did enjoy. During application, the mask felt a bit ticklish in some areas due to the foam forming, but I didn’t have any other thoughts on how it felt besides that.
I did have a lot of thoughts after removing the mask though, because my skin felt SUPER tight. I have a dry skin type and it felt so weird. Normally, my skin feels tight when my skin is too dried out but the hydration level of my skin felt normal, not too dry but also not very hydrated.
Instead, my skin felt tight like I’ve just had a facelift! I never felt such a strong tightening feeling in any other skincare product that I’ve tried, so the Taurine in the Marine Root-Up Complex is definitely something I notice on my skin. I did have to use a moisturizer after using this product but I usually need to when I use a mask or cleansing that contains Charcoal.
TONYMOLY Tako Cleansing Stick
The TONYMOLY Tako Cleansing Stick (10 gr) cleanses the skin by gliding on as a balm that melts into an oil, breaking down make-up and dissolve skin impurities. Aside from the Marine Root-Up Complex, the formula also contains a Natural Plant Oil Blend that includes 60% Sunflower Seed Oil for a hydrating and nourishing finish, Pore Clean Complex (Quillaia, Soapweed, Soapberry, and Yucca Extract) to provide a superior cleanse, Rotorua Mud for absorbing excess oil and Charcoal Powder for extracting blackheads, whiteheads and other skin impurities.
The ingredients list of the TONYMOLY Tako Cleansing Stick is as follows:
Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Octyldodecanol, Polyethylene, PEG-20 Glyceryl Triisostearate, PEG-8 Isostearate, Orbignya Oleifera Seed Oil, PEG-12 Diisostearate, Ceresin, Microcrystalline Wax, Charcoal Powder, Tocopheryl Acetate, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Oil, Rosa Canina Fruit Oil, Limnanthes Alba Seed Oil, Vitis Vinifera Seed Oil, Carthamus Tinctorius Seed Oil, Oryza Sativa Bran Oil, Mangifera Indica Seed Oil, Water, Sea Salt, Montmorillonite, Sea Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Acacia Senegal Gum, Peat Water, Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose, Citric Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Taurine, Saponaria Officinalis Leaf Extract, Sapindus Mukorossi Fruit Extract, Quillaja Saponaria Bark Extract, Chlorella Vulgaris/Lupinus Albus Protein Ferment, Yucca Vera Leaf/Root Extract, Acanthopanax Senticosus Root Extract, Carica Papaya Fruit Extract, Potassium Sorbate, Ethylhexylglycerin, 1,2-Hexanediol, Fragrance.
According to the instructions on the back of the TONYMOLY Tako Cleansing Elixir Holiday Set, the Tako Cleansing Stick is used by rolling the stick on wet skin and rinse off with lukewarm water.
What I immediately noticed using the instructions is that it doesn’t work for me. As you can see in the picture, the cleanser leaves a very thin, oily layer. Using this on a wet surface made it feel like it didn’t want to stick on the skin that well, so I like to use this product on a dry skin instead, massaging the product using circular motions on the skin, gently massage using my fingers before rinsing off with lukewarm water. It has the same fresh scent as the other product but is very subtle.
I used this product when wearing make-up and while it does break down most of it, there were still some areas like my eye make-up that needed some additional cleaning. So I do think this cleanser does break down a base but needs additional help when there’s more heavy make-up involved.
For me, this cleanser is best used in the morning, it’s nice to give my face a massage using the stick and since it has a Natural Plant Oil Blend, my skin feels soft and hydrated after use. I also think this product is travel-friendly, since it is compact, easy to use and not liquid.
I really have enjoyed using the TONYMOLY Tako Cleansing Elixir Holiday Set. The products inside are very fun to look at and nice to use. My skin feels super clean, very smooth and tight after using these products and I would absolutely recommend to check them out. Since I have a dry skin type and it wasn’t too drying on me, I think these can be used for all skin types (always be careful of trying new products if you have a sensitive skin type though).
